One of the Twins albums you need to own Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
Good Twins album. I don`t think they should sing in Mandarin, though. It`s not because of their pronounciation - I don`t speak Mandarin so I`m blissfully unaware of any mistakes our girls might make here! I just think they sound more relaxed singing in Cantonese. Also when some of the former Cantonese songs turn up again, this time in Mandarin, it sounds really strange. I like the box this CD and DVD came in, like an ordinary DVD cover, sturdy and easy to stock. The four postcards are really beautiful, might have bought this album just to get them. There`s a chunky booklet too, very nice indeed. I think the songs are good, typical Twins, kinda like the songs on Twins Party, mid-tempo and nice to listen to whatever you`re doing. I LOVE track 3 and the MV (who`s that cute guy?) is so touching. It always brings tears to my eyes when the girls run off and then hug at the end. Good work overall Twins!

Middle-of-the-Road Twins Album Customer Review Rated Bad 6 - 6 out of 10
"Around The World With 80 Dollars" is Twins second Mandarin album. Compared with "Trainee Cupid", Twins first Mandarin album, this one doesn't quite live up to their initial effort. While by no means a bad album, "80 Dollars" has fewer memorable songs and some that are just plain filler tracks.

Starting with the great: Track 02 "Around The World With 80 Dollars" (the titular track) is a dancey and mildly aggressive song (by Twins standards); Track 03 "I Really Want To Love Him" is a great ballad, not boring at all, has a chorus you want to sing along to, and has a fantastic MV included on the DVD.

The good: Track 04 is a happy, up-tempo pop track with some nice harmonizing in the pre-chrous build up; Track 06 is a Mandarin re-do of "The Missing Piece" from their last album with, sadly, the exact same arrangement (the arrangement is great, it just would have been nice to have changed some things up a bit); Track 08 is really different in that it's very punk-rock, and the girls really try to sing in an edgy, abrupt style that works for the track.

The safe and average and mostly-forgettable (and "didn't we already have this EXACT song?"): all the other tracks. While, once again, non are bad or terrible, they're just there. Nothing grabs me with them and makes me want to listen. An honourable mention though goes out to Track 05 and Track 09 which are solos by Gillian and Charlene, respectively...sadly, the songs themselves don't really allow either to shine much. Imagine you're walking a dog through a park...now add music...that's pretty much what both songs are like.

Recommended to Twins Fans; Not Recommended to those who are not Twins Fans (this album won't convince you otherwise). 6/10.

very good album except for EEG Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
This second Mandarin album of Twins is better than the first one. It includes more good songs and the melody sounds very smoothly. I might give Twins 10 points but I don't because of their company. EEG makes so many versions and it made me crazy.

An Improved Effort from Twins Customer Review Rated Bad 6 - 6 out of 10
Being a Twins fan, I would have been obliged to give this album 5 stars but to be fair, Twins' 2nd Mandarin album deserves at most 3.5 stars from me.

There is no doubt that this album is much better than their debut Mandarin album with the fact that there are only 2 remakes from the original Cantonese version (Track 6 and 10) and Track 6 actually sounds pretty ok in Mandarin. Twins' grasp of Mandarin has also improved though still not exactly fluent.

However, like most Twins' album, this one has its fair share of excellent and poor tracks. My personal favourite is track 3 and 7; both are love ballads and personally I feel Twins should do more love ballads than fast tracks. Track 1 and 2 are really horrible to say the least although if you actually bother to listen more than 2 or 3 times, Track 2 can be rather catchy. Charlene's effort (Track 9) is also worth a mention and she certainly will not disgrace herself if she goes solo in future. The rest of the tracks are forgetable and you would probably just listen to Track 2, 3, 6, 7 and 9 for most of the time.

Knowing that EEG would probably release a second version of this album with more goodies (i.e DVD), I waited for about a month or so rather than buying this album when it was first released. I don't think EEG should be blamed for this when most other record companies are doing likewise. My best advice is to wait for a month or two for such second versions to be released before you actually buy the album.

Nice Album But Hate EEG Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
I think this new Twins' Mandarin album is very good. I love all the songs & their pronoucation in Mandarin is much better than the first mando album. The songs have their own meaning & the music sounds good all together. But I personally hate EEG because they have made too much editions of the same CD or songs. Why can't they just made one with all the good stuffs. I think one is already enough. When in first came out I bought it right away. Afraiding it would sold out. However, they release the second & had more good stuffs like posters & MVs. But i don't want to purchases the same thing again for just the goodies. Please EEG ! Stop making the same CD with so many different editions. One is already good enough. Also you are making the consumers mad ! Overall, I do recommend you all the people to buy this CD. It's worth the money.
