 bickering love potentials Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
pretty Shim Eun Ha's CHRISTMAS IN AUGUST debuted in January 1998 - this film debuted in December 1998 - two better films can rarely be found in any actors entire filmography - much less in the same year

CHRISTMAS is a difficult film to categorize - this one is a formulaic romantic comedy/drama - but its so full of surprises that is ranks at the top of the genre

this one's for people who like bickering love potentials - one is a soldier on leave from the army who is surprised to find his girlfriends apartment being occupied by someone else - while these two pine away for other people - they squabble as they collaborate over a screenplay about love

this is a south korean film - so you can't be sure everything will end happily

Lee Seong Jae - who plays the young man - was just starting out on a successful career - while the wonderful Shim Eun Ha would unexpectedly retire in a couple years despite being a top star not yet 30 years old

in supporting roles - korean film icon Ahn Sung Kee and pretty Song Seon Mi contribute as much as the stars do

not only does a DVD of this film reside alongside CHRISTMAS IN AUGUST in my personal library - but both crowd in with a handful of films at the very top of my favorites list

Gentle Romantic Drama Customer Review Rated Bad 5 - 5 out of 10
A short-tempered man and a shy lazy woman are forced by circumstance to share a flat for a short while. They write a screenplay together which is also acted out in this film. It all ends happily ever after.

I read many positive reviews about this film but was disappointed. This is a gently paced romantic drama with very very subtle humour. Women may like this 'realistic film' but real men should stay away.

I don't speak Korean, so maybe there is something lost in the film. Then maybe the film is just not really interesting.

"Art Museum by the Zoo" was a major disappointment. I found the premise to be unbelievable, the script to be heavy-handed, and the image quality of this DVD to be dark and imprecise. Perhaps most disappointing, Shim Eun Ha, who was so subtle in her performance in "Interview", here overacts everything. I believe that she was trying to be comedic in her performance, but clearly lacked a feel for good comedic acting. I cannot recommend this movie.

i bought the hong kong DVD version. picture quality not very good. not sure if it because of the hong kong version or the movie itself. i loved shim eun-ha in christmas in august. her character in this movie is not as strong. however she does it well.

 Attention Single Women!! Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
I watched this movie when I was living in Seoul, and for me it just captivates the heart of so many of us single girls...desperate to find romance but too shy and too underconfident to believe it could be out there for THEM. You might think that this movie is just another predictable bunch of sop but it really isn't - it has a good message, an unusual storyline, and most importantly, seeing what the poor girl goes through to find herself makes you think about you...if not you then definitely someone you know! I've watched it twice already and will definitely watch it again...a MUST see for all single women everywhere - there is hope!

If you like your movies with well balanced charakters - "Art museum.." is a defintive must have.
Like "Love wind love song", "Ill mare" or "Christmas in August" .. slow moving - but a really cute and hearttouching story !!

Especially Shim Eun-ha is cuter then ever ... and Lee Sung Jae .. I noticed him in Attack the gas station before.. but since I saw this movie : Great actor !!

It's light and it has an interesting presentation of the development between the two leading characters. Shim Eun Ha is also a good actress.

One of the best Korean movies. Delightful romantic comedy. I thought some of the scenes reminded of some scenes from a French movie but I could be wrong.

this was a nice "romantic comedy" kind of flick. yes..it was refreshing - the plot, the characters, the situations. one (the girl) enjoys one-sided love, and the other (the guy) has been dumped by his girlfriend.. the two come together to form a unique pair, and admist funny disagreements, we start seeing how they are good for each other. the way the screenplay they work on together ties into their own life is really original + really cute. another thing, i love the ending song!

A "Go-for-it" movie Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
Semi-hermit. Mid-late twenties and still missing her other half. She lives inside her head. She doesn't "seize the day." She wouldn't even try on the pretty, pretty shoes in the display window--why bother? The pair she has on now have been broken into and comfortable... I became uneasy towards the end of the movie--you really start to feel for her. I didn't want her to pass up another opportunity... For those of you who cringe at the thought of another "oh-so-NOT-original-nauseating-cutesy-tragic-love-story" .... This isn't some sappy love story. Yeah, love blossoms but it's not fluffy and pink and I don't think it's the movies main point. It's the main idea only in their little fictional work. Clever. The sex scene that is not there is also smart. Just sit tight for the first 10 minutes. It makes you think that it's going to be another dumb story but it's not. Really.
