October 3, 2008 Miriam is "Wonder"ful!!Wonder Miriam is a wonderful experience. The tracks are amazingly composed, arranged and sung. I try not to compare to Meridian, as this is a brand new album, and it's different people she works with, etc. Anyhow, my favourite is track 11. 擁抱回憶. This track is so sweet, and Miriam has so much emotion when she sings. My second favourite is track 10.嬅麗緣 for obvious reasons. Full credit to 陳浩賢 for composing and filling the lyrics for this unique track. By the way, all the 36 songs in the track are my all time favourites too. This song has to be the next hit on all the HK charts. My third favourite is track 6. 塗鴉 a very soothing track as well. My fourth favourite is track 8 愛過 finally a mandarin song totally different from the cantonese tracks, and it sounds really good. My fifth favourite is track 2 明日再會 already plugged and had great success. The rest of the tracks are of high quality as well. And track 5 一葉舟 does sound better live. The CD version just doesn't have the "umph" because of it's slow arrangement. Overall, this album rates high on my collection of Miriam albums, as you can definitely see great efforts put forth to create and produce this album (took over a year). The unfortunate part I would have to say is that Miriam no longer plays a part in being the executive producer of her albums. Hopefully she will have more say in the future regarding album theme, song choice, album covers, etc. Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

September 15, 2007 Twins is okTwins still has their popularity. But releasing the albums in 2 versions is just another one of EEG's tactics. Very disappointed once again. The songs may be good, but if a consumer want to listen to both Charlene and Gillian's solo tracks, they would have to buy 2 albums, which is a total rip-off and a turn off. September 15, 2007 Joey is too muchJoey's company EEG always comes up with something to release, whether it's a new album, a mandarin album, a compilation, or one of these live concerts. Over the past few years, how many has she released? Numerous!! I'm getting tired of Joey's voice. When she first came out, she was great. But as her career moved along, she has become way too commercial and not unique anymore. Very disappointed in Joey. She should take more part in her music career, and not let EEG do all the work for her. Sigh. Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

August 18, 2007 Meridian, very sweetI got this album as soon as it hit the stores. Anyhow, it's hard not to compare with "Unlimited" because "Unlimited is such a high quality album. I believe Miriam did sang with her heart in this album, but the songs doesn't stand out as much as the ones in "Unlimited". They're great tunes, such as track 07, a really unique track. It stood out from the pack. But I always play the album many times before I make a criticism. This album I would say leans more to the easy-listening side. It's definitely not the K-songs you hear. And the song to a great extent do have a cohesiveness to it. But still in general I would think "Unlimited" is more successful. Still, I would definitely recommend this album to everyone. Other must listen tracks include 05, 06, 09, 10. Go get your copy la, don't miss out on a piece of work that Miriam put a lot of heart into. Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

December 10, 2006 A long awaited releaseEveryone should be relieved Miriam is finally releasing her new album. It has been 20 months since her last release "Single" in April 2005. But the wait is always worth it for Miriam, because she has the ability to produce albums that are touching to the heart of everyone who listens. Those reviewers who only see the surface such as "the cover looks like sammi vs sammi" are indeed superficial and don't know how to look beyond Miriam's music. Miriam has always impressed me with her albums, in terms of style and cohesiveness. It's like a story from start to finish as you listen through the tracks. Just this point is enough to say that Miriam is the best HK female singer out there. Joey is just trash, with her K-pop music. As long as she is still with EEG, she is still nothing compared to Miriam. Miriam's personality has always caught my attention. It's the whole package about her that makes me so intrigued to learn more about her, whether it's through her music, or her interviews. I'm sure there are a lot more to discover in Miriam. Remember to get yourself a copy of Unlimited, because you will definitely not regret it. Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

December 17, 2005 I think I'll defnitely "PASS"I think this is just a very poor quality cd, one of the worst compared to all the newcomers this year. The reason is rather simple, it only has 3 songs practically, and the quality of the songs are bad. I really have a problem with artists-turn-singers these days. It's like a trend that everyone who makes movies will go sing. I don't get that. I can understand if they're singing a theme song for their movie, but producing an album as a singer is just bizarre, especially someone like Ron who can't really sing. Track 1. 別怪她 (Remix) is an odd remix. It sounds like a x'mas mix, but not really. And it's just technical arranagements to hide Ron's voice, because his vocals are weak. 2. 愛馬仕小姐 is a terrible track. I strongly don't recommend you listening to it. 3. The Fast Pass (Music) is one of those nonsense interludes found in many albums as of late, such as Joey's. I don't see any meaning with this except a filler music track to make this album look like an EP while it's really not. 4. 春日 shows Ron's weakness and inability to sing in various notes/tones. I think the song just didn't bring out what it's suppose to with his voice in it. 5. 別怪她 not much comment here. The song itself is not bad, and Ron has done ok with it. Overall, I think this album is just for his girly fans. I think for sure pass when it comes to this cd and go for more talented newcomers. Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -
Miriam Yeung + Chet Lam Music is Live (2CD)
September 25, 2005 a nice matchup for onceI've bought this album when it came out, cuz I'm a Miriam fan, but I also like singers with talent, such as Chet Lam. So I thought this would be an unusual matchup that might just create some spark. To begin reviewing this live concert, I must say that the song choice is excellent. The album is filled with songs from the past, which is good, because being a Miriam fan, I've heard all her new and previous tracks and I know she can sing them, but singing other artists' songs takes some effort. I think they did a good job. The highly recommended tracks in Disc 1 would be 15 藍雨 . Miriam sang with great emotion. 10 給最開心的人. This is also sung very well by Chet. And of course 16 我的醉愛 by Miriam. It's a good track to end Disc 1 as it's very soothing and relaxing. And also because I didn't buy version 2 of "single" therefore it's nice to own this song live. As for Disc 2. The best track I have to say is 23 男孩像你 - 楊千嬅/林一峰 . They sang so well together in this song, perfect matchup. But personally I thought 24 烈女 was a bit off, because Chet's voice is not strong enough, and this song requires strong vocals, and I thought he was a bit weak in this song. Another highly recommended track would be 20 壞女孩(Medley) - 林一峰/不羈的風(Medley). I love the way Miriam sang 不羈的風. So so good. You have to listen to it. Overall I really enjoyed this CD. Like I said in the beginning, if you're looking for a nice unique matchup, go for this album. I'm so tired of the Joey and Hacken, Joey and Jeff, etc etc. Anxiously waiting for Miriam's next big hit ALBUM =) Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -
September 5, 2005 um ok la......definitely not the best stuff from j
Well, after buying this album when it first came out, I have to say that I was a little disappointed at first. But I did give the album a few more chances before criticizing it further. After listening to the album for a lot of times, and I mean a lot of times, my impression of it has changed a bit, on the better side. Well, lets start with the title track 越唱越強. It's a very catchy song, with lyrics that lift the listener's spirits. I have to admit, this song really did it for me. 天之驕女 is a decent track, but Joey's performance is just mediocre in this track. 損友 is a lot of people's favourite for some reason, because it's a catchy k-song. Although the subject is just the same old as her other k songs, but there's a unique quality to this song that makes it special. Joey's performance is very good in this track, lots of emotion. 還未 is a very good attempt by Joey, it's subtle, but the song lingers in your mind. It's probably one of the most outstanding tracks in this album, as oppose to those heavy music. 罪魁 is another good track, typical Joey style which is easy on the ears. But overall the song doesn't have much substance to it. 去火星戀愛 is probably one of my favourites in this album. Although the melody is not bold, but Joey's performance is excellent, and people can actually relate to the lyrics itself. The other tracks I have to say is a nice try, but it's really not Joey's style at all. Joey's attempt at singing these tracks is a good sign, but I find myself skipping these tracks as I listen to the album. The only decent one is 亂. 混血兒 is probably the most annoying track out of the bunch. And talking about annoying tracks, the interludes....they are THE MOST ANNOYING thing that Joey has done in her albums over the past few years. I absolutely don't see them as unique in any way whatsoever, and certainly in no way adding to the difference in Joey's albums from other albums just by adding these interludes. Many of them is 5 seconds long, and I think listeners can easily lose focus while trying to listen to Joey's voice. I remember she started this with My Pride, and then every single album of hers has it. If it's a minute long music without talk that's fine, but it's not. Finally I really want to talk about the cover. It's absolutely one of the worse album covers of all time. Joey is not a little girl anymore, but this album cover clearly is trying to communicate that. It's so awful. I think 925 is Joey's best album, because of its cover, so mature, so Joey. But this cover doesn't convey that, and it contradicts the fact that Joey is trying to be sexy and mature. I really agree with a reviewer that the picture in her photo book (the one with the short hair) should be placed as the album cover. I love that picture soooo much. Overall this album is not surprising, it's Joey's usual stuff, with some new attempts that I personally think failed. Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This)
