It's a clash of the ti-tongues in Nan Bei Da Zhuang! After playing the silver-tongued Chan Mung Kat in the 2007 TVB drama Word Twisters' Adventures, popular Hong Kong actor/singer Jordan Chan plays another legendary lawyer in Qing-dynasty China, Sung Sai Kit, in this 2009 period drama. Equally eloquent is Ji Xiaolan's descendent Ji Xueli, played by Li Baotian (Ju Dou), who pits himself against Sung in endless battles of wits and rhetorics. Directed by Billy Tang (Royal Swordsmen), the cast also includes famous Hong Kong actors Eric Wan (My Date with a Vampire), Jo Kuk as Sung's lover, and Jade Leung as Ji's wife.

Sung Sai Kit (Jordan Chan) and Ji Xueli (Li Baotian) are the renowned Southern and Northern "King of Lawyers" respectively, and they have contrasting styles and philosophies. Naturally, they don't see eye to eye with each other, always trying to outsmart each other while defending justice in court. Intelligent as they are, Sung and Ji's rivalry has blinded them to the truth behind an unsolved case that involves both of their families. Meanwhile, the real villain is plotting to remove these thorns in his side...

In the chaotic late Ching dynasty, two major attorneys in China are renowned for their intelligence and will for justice. Both are collectively known as "Northern & Southern Great Attorneys" and their noble cause of assisting the public against the unjust treatment of the corrupt officials.

Ji Xueli (Li Baotian) is the Northern attorney who is the descendant of the famous official Ji Xiaolan. He once won a case defeating 7 other attorneys, which also lead to the death of a man seeking his help at the same time. As a result of this, he went into hibernation.

Song Shijie (Jordan Chan-INITIAL D) is the Southern attorney from a very humble origin. The hates the injustice in the regional government office and he sees himself as the defender of justice. However, he has a weakness for women and unfortunately, he meets one too many in his life!

By Chance of a complicated case will eventually bring the two great attorneys working togehter.

Subpar & Infantile Customer Review Rated Bad 4 - 4 out of 10
Before viewing the series, I thought it came from the mainland. After viewing a couple of chapters, I suspected it was a HK production. Very subpar directing,acting. Infantile dialogs. Noisy throughout,very irritating. The two male leads are
disappointing.

Not recommended.
