Excellent: Hyde & Ophelia
|
I just got this album yesterday. Ophelia instantly becomes my latest addiction with Hyde's impressive vocals along with the atmospheric, jazzy and dynamic music arrangements. The track is excellent with its heavy piano and drum arrangements with the slightly off but attractive saxophone addition. This is a must get if you like Hyde and jazzy music. The track itself is worth it. My other 5 stars tracks are: Last Heaven, Poem, My Dear and Existence, and the 4 stars are Invitation to Freedom, Trust and Stars. |

this is my the first L'arc album i purchased out of my own curiosity. i had listened to some of their songs especially the ones used in FMA soundtracks, so my interest on them grew. i surf the net and just order this album because it just recently out at that time. and i made the right choice! this album blew me away. each songs is very unique and carefully + beautifully arranged. some songs are very catchy (like Jiyuu E No Shoutai, Lost Heaven, Killing Me and New World) that would tune you on instantly. Jojoushi gives a lasting impression on me. This song is so mesmerizing and make me fall in love. Some songs might not tune you in for the first time due to its complex and heavy arrangements (like Ophelia and Trust), but believe me they would just grow on you after second/third listening. The lyrics are so inspiring with their deep and meaningful messages (translations are widely available on the net) this album show their maturity, bring up their musical talents and skills to the next levels but at the same time still retaining their original touch. A very memorable album and deserve a special place in your CD collection. Thanx to this album, I'm officially became a L'arc fan! |

A Good Album
|
Even though this album is a very different theme from their previous album (Smile), you can still tell that this is a pure L'Arc~en~ciel album. There are many catchy songs on this album (My Dear, Ophelia, Poem). This album also includes the hit: New World and Lost Heaven (from the Fullmetal Alchemist Movie). This cd seems to have a more Rock centered genre. |

a must-have!

All of the songs are good! New World, Killing Me, Jojoushi, etc. It also comes with romaji lyrics, so you can sing along even if you can't read Japanese! Ah... and there's some pretty pictures too. |

Amazing
|
In my opinion, this is the best Laruku -album so far. There are everything: heart-breaking ballads (for exemple Jojoushi wich is one of my all-time Laruku-favourites) as well as energetic "let's feel happy"-songs (Killing Me, New World). Hyde-fans should definitely check up Awake - the amazingly talented vocalist has wrote 5 of the songs. The rest are mostly composed by Ken and Tetsu. |

L'Arc-en-Ciel has done it again with another fantastic CD. "Awake" contains some really nice rock tracks. My most favorites are: New World, Jojoshi, As One, Ophelia, Twinkle Twinkle. I really love "Jojoshi" it is such a beautiful slow song. I love Hyde's voice, especially when he hits the high notes. It's very mesmerizing. I saw L'Arc-en-Ciel perform "Jojoshi" on Music Station and Pop Jam, it was so good! L'Arc-en-Ciel is very hot. I love their music. |

'don't judge a book by its cover.' so they say and that is exactly what i had done. i always assumed because of their image laruku had like emo/rock music, but i never actually listened to them. until, one day i stumbled upon some of their earlier works and boy was i amazed. i love this Awake album of theirs especially New World&Killing Me. they gave me a new prospective that even old men can rock and never assume anything till you know the truth. :b |

Nice, L'arc... Nice.
|
I must say this is the first album of their's I've heard. That said, I enjoyed it in its entirety on the first trips through. A good number of the tracks were easy to get into, and a few of those held a surface charm that faded away in time. I still like most of the singles, especially Jiyuu (which I liked from the beginning) and Killing Me (which took me time to get hooked). I admire that they included the live track at the end, too. So, if you buy this, I'm almost certain you'll find something to like, but there is a good amount of empty material on here nonetheless. |

Awake woke me up
|
I admit that I've never been much of a fan of L'arc, particularly hyde b/c of "certain issues"(plus Gackt and MOVE have most of my love), but when I got the chance to check out Awake, I surprised myself by liking it a lot. People who are already fans of the band could totally understand this. I really like Jojoshi and NEW WORLD, amongst most of the other songs. Overall, I found it easy to listen to. |

Laruku's latest album...
|
I was so blown away by "Smile" that maybe my expectations were set too high. Rather than having catchy choruses and hooks to this CD, the melodies are more drawn out, and more vocal, but maybe less memorable. The live track at the end (US version only, I'm told) sounds different from the actual song. Live rock doesn't do the original studio version justice. "Heaven's Drive" is actually one of Laruku's greatest songs, but in the live track you can barely hear all of the instruments, and Hide sounds like he's yelling (probably just hindered stadium acoustics). My favorite track is probably the first song. |
