Jang Hyuk ,who made a stunning career comeback with 2007 sleeper hit Thank You, stars in the new SBS melodrama Robber. The story paints the remarkable transformation of a down-on-luck swindler into a man of integrity through his discovery of love and happiness brought on by a naive but high-spirited single mom. Jang Hyuk, who became both a husband and a father in 2008, delivers a superb performance as a shrewd slick-talking con-man who makes a cheap living swindling money from love-hungry women. My Girl's feisty and bubbly Lee Da Hae conveys much realism in her portrayal of a headstrong widow, earning the actress the nickname of "queen of tears". Amidst the dark despair, love ultimately prevails in Robber, guiding the two wounded souls onto the path of healing. Written by Kim Kyu Wan who previously brought us Piano and Spring Days, this touching drama also provides plenty of humorous moments, touching on such topics as homosexuality and middle-aged romance.

When it comes to manipulating women's hearts (or rather their bank accounts), Oh Joon (Jang Hyuk) knows best. Bidding farewell to Young Soo (Kim Eun Joo) at the airport, Oh Joon gives her a deep passionate kiss - something to remember him by. As she heads to the departure gate, he pleads her not to look back, as parting from a lover can be awfully painful. Meanwhile, young widow Dal Lae (Lee Da Hae) wants her mother-in-law Soon Som (Han Hye Sook) to stop trying to fix her up on blind dates. Happy and content living with her 5-year-old daughter and her mother-in-law, the last thing on Dal Lae's mind is to get remarried. However, at Soon Sam's persistence, Dal Lae shows up for the blind date but the man turns out to be a wealthy grandfather! Flabbergasted, Dal Lae steps hard on her accelerator and crashes into Oh Joon's car. And lo and behold, the slick swindler zooms in on his next target.

인천공항 출국장에서 오준(장혁)은 영숙(김은주)을 부둥켜 안고 열정적으로 키스를 한다. 오준은 이별을 아쉬워 하며 눈물을 흘리는 영숙에게 돌아보지 말라며 안타까운 표정을 짓는다. 영숙의 모습이 보이지 않자 표정이 돌변한 오준은 영숙이 주고간 봉투를 열어보고 실망한다. 시어머니 순섬(김해숙)의 등살에 맞선을 보러간 달래(이다해)는 상대남자가 돈많은 할아버지라는 사실을 확인하고 경악한다. 열받은 달래는 차를 후진시키려다 오준차의 범퍼를 들이 받는다. 순섬에게 호진(손병호)이라는 연하남이 있다는 것을 알게된 달래는 결혼을 하고 싶어하는 사람은 엄마가 아니냐고 따진다.달래는 순대(김환희)를 데리고 엄마와 함께 살고 싶다며 억지로 결혼을 시키려고 하지 말라고 부탁하는데...

호텔 커피숍에서 달래를 본 오준은 차가 반파가 되었다며 소설같은 이야기를 꾸며 댄다. 심각한 표정을 짓던 오준은 달래의 음성을 듣고 사경을 벗어났다며 사례를 하겠다고 작업근성을 드러낸다. 한편 진구부는 진달래가 죽은 남편의 어머니를 극진히 모시는 것만 봐도 며느리로 맞아도 충분하다며 달래와 당장 결혼하라고 성화를 부린다. 무식한 여자는 싫다며 손사래를 치던 진구는 아버지가 전재산을 사회에 환원하겠다고 하자 결혼하겠다고 말한다. 3천만원에 생사가 걸린 오준은 달래가 돈을 가지고 있다는 사실을 알고 온갖 미사여구와 슬픈 과거사를 꾸며대며 달래에게 접근을 시도 하는데...

촌닭같은 진달래에게 접근하지 않겠다던 오준은 사채업자로부터 문자를 받자 표정을 바꿔 달래를 찾아간다. 얼굴만 보고 가겠다고 쓸쓸한 웃음을 짓고 사라지는 오준을 본 달래는 마음이 아파온다. 카페로 들어간 오준은 아는 여자들의 이름을 나열한 후 재산상태와 성공확률을 도표로 그리기 시작한다. 사채업자에게 불려간 오준은 달래를 꼬드길 시간을 달라며 통사정을 한다. 태오의 기일만 되면 혼절하는 달래는 집까지 찾아온 오준에게 태오가 없어졌다고 헛소리를 하며 대성통곡을 한다. 혼절한 달래를 업고 응급실에 간 오준은 달래를 치료하기 위해 나타난 의사가 경희라는 사실을 확인하고 재빨리 자리를 피하는데....
