What a beautiful voice! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
Baek Ji Young's fifth album, "Smile Again", is a strong mix of dance and ballad tracks. Miss Baek's smoky voice is achingly lovely on the ballads, including tracks 1 and 3. As her fans would expect, she also handles the dance tracks with ease. Some of the latter include strong hip hop influences reminiscent of some of Jolin Tsai's hottest songs. My one small gripe is that the album is front-loaded with very fast dance tracks; from tracks 2 through 6, four of the five songs are loud, throbbing dance numbers. The effect is a bit numbing. I solve this problem simply by skipping my least favorite of the lot, track 5. When I do so, I find that the album delivers very solid and consistent entertainment. Very highly recommended.

Korea's gift to the world Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
Can we finally forget about that stupid video? I respect Korea for its intelligence and spirit but the Koreans can be painfully narrow-minded. Yes, the video was misguided and stupid but everyone makes horrible errors in judgement. Besides, it may have been the best thing to happen for her developement as a singer. The pre-video Baek Ji Young is clearly talented but lacking in emotional intensity. After the video, "Smile" was a tsunami of honesty, pain and love delivered by a sultry, beautiful voice that gace me the chills. She delivers the goods once more with "Smile again". Her pain and desire for forgiveness is everywhere in these songs. She reminds us that she is no different from us except that her sins were aired for everyone to see.
As a physician I am concerned. She seems on the brink of an emotional breakdown and heading for the same fate as Kim Kwang Sok. If this happens it would be an unforgivable tragedy. She is one of the greatest voices in the modern pop era of Korea. The beauty and expressiveness of the Korean language flows from her vocal cords like an ocean. Her ballads (arguably Korea's great contribution to the music world) are astonishing and straight from her heart. The true test of a human is succeeding in the face of disaster.
Baek Ji Young is an example for everyone; especially the modern Korean woman.

Decent album Customer Review Rated Bad 7 - 7 out of 10
Finally moving onto ballads, latin dance artist Baek Ji Young releases her new album.

I personally felt that the ballads were really good. Especially the title track, which I felt was very touching and emotional. Her voice really matches with this kind of style of style and I hope her next album will have more ballads like this album did.

However, I must be honest. I thought the latin dance tracks weren't that great. They seemed to lack something that kept me interested in them. I've never been a huge fan of latin sounding music, but I was hoping for something a lot more into my face from Baek Ji Young.

Decent album, with very nice ballads, but she seemed to lack the power in her latin tracks.

I'm smiling along... Customer Review Rated Bad 7 - 7 out of 10
With this album, Baek Ji Young focuses more on ballads than her latest releases. I believe this is mostly due to her ageing status in the industry. Not to say that she is old, but she is a veteran who has somewhat unleashed her massive energy in the latter years.

Anyone who knows me, knows that I'm a huge Baek Ji Young fan. I've purchased all her albums in the past and I will continue to purchase her albums in the future. Sadly though, this album did not strike me as hard as others. I think her ballads-focused work is great for her future but I tend to live in the past where she was this bombastic latin dance queen--an era where she really shone.

This album still contains the salsa elements as with Tracks #4, #5, and #13 but as mentioned, it has more ballads than usual.

Baek Ji Young is an artist that I have an utmost respect for and I hope she'll continue on with her music career for years to come!

It's been a while since Baek Ji Young released something. It's about time too since it's been too long.

This CD has a mix of both dance (Latin style mainly) and ballad type music. Her title song (Sarang Ahnhae) is a really nice ballad-type song. Her dance songs are great, such as EZ Do Dance, Woo Ah, "Chook Jae" and IRONIC, all having a Latin-style beat to them.

If you like Latin-style music, then you'll like this CD. Even if you don't like Latin-style songs, there are many nice ballads on this CD. This is definitely worth checking out.
