Very ambitious movie Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10

This is the most ambitious movie so far. Only Zhou Xun can play the role of this beautiful, naive, schizophrenic girl. (I think she is much better actress than Zhang Ziyi.) Director went an extra mile to present Baober's world. This movie is much more creative than any Chinese/Hong Kong/Taiwanese movie you had ever seen. It's more like animation and comics. The director has a lot of courage to do a film like this. Fantastic.

If nude scene is what you hope for, you will be disappointed.

I saw this movie in an international asian film festival in italy and I must admit it has been an astonishing experience.
Forget about traditional storyline, you're not going to watch a movie, you're going to live an alternative experience which could disturb you or enlight you.

I really loved this movie, it didn't follow the normal three act structure in storytelling. You have to really read into it to understand all the metaphores contained in the storyline. Great acting by Zhou Xun and wonderful directing by LiShaoHong.

Light turns dark Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10

The first half of this movie is light-hearted, as the young girl Baober brings with her a breath of fresh air into the main character's stale, materialistic life. However, the second half is darker, and for me this is what made the film interesting. Overall, a nice job with good visuals and good soundtrack. As for the plot... you'll have to decide for yourself whether you like it. The movie is in a way a commentary on China's rapid economic growth and the rapid changes that it brought forth in the lives of her people. This theme has been explored in numerous movies from the Mainland in the past several years, but "Baober" definitely puts yet another, different spin on this familiar topic.
