Very, very good movie. Some of the reviewers are missing how predictive this movie is, and at the same time, very entertaining. In this era, this movie reads as an uncanny prediction for the current state of affairs in the world. Think about it. A government seeking economic gain and wanting to take the minds of the electorate off its own mismanagement creates a villian (teenagers/Saddam; ironically both "creations" of the government), makes them a scapegoat (teen angst/WMDs), thinks it can break their spirit, and not only do things go horribly wrong, but they create something for the government to really be scared of (Wild 7/fundementalist Iraq and a nuclear Korea/Iran). Interesting how one reviewer finds it unbelievable that the Japanese government would tolerate the US bombing their territory without their permission. Did he miss the part where the teacher lists 60 countries that we bombed with no permission? Beyond that, the casting is very good, perhaps a bit melodramatic at times, but I think Lars would forgive him. Highly recommended.

i saw battle royale on english tv last year and loved it so much, that i went out and bought it.i had heard the br2 was completely different to first one so wasnt too suprised when i watched it. its not quite as good as the original, but still enjoyable. the first 30 mins is the only part of br2 that is in the same mould of br1.its actually a very political film aswell.

Terrible sequel Customer Review Rated Bad 1 - 1 out of 10
I really looked forward to this movie but it was a huge disappointment. It starts out strong, with a new set of kids being forced to attack a terroristic island stronghold. As soon as they explore why the terrorists are attacking, the whole thing falls apart. The hero of the 1st movie is now a terrorist fighting.... all adults! Yeah, that makes sense. America is portrayed as randomly bombing the terrorists, without permission of the Japanese government. The ending and most everything else is utterly nonsensical. Trust me, avoid it.

I thought this was an excellent movie. Of course there were some flaws in the movie such as how nanahara shuya gets shot so many times and still manages to live. As expected, I thought this movie was definately worth watching after seeing the first. I don't think that the movie should have stated an all out war on adults, because the mere fact that, if they survive, they become the adults. Moreover, I think they should have made a declaration of war against the government that brought on the BR Act or law. I had to watch this movie 3 times, to really get an idea of what the movie was trying to portray. But for all you haters out there that think that this movie bashes the americans, well thats your problem; everyone has different opinions. Anyways, see the movie for yourself. Speculations on the reviews on whether to watch the movie or not is not a good thing. Just because someone says the movie was bad or not that great, doesn't mean that it is. You have to decide for yourself.

Dissapointing. Customer Review Rated Bad 1 - 1 out of 10
I saw this movie in the cinema, and this is all I've got: With a terribly under-developed plotline and characters that were killed off before I could even begin to care about them, I found Battle Royale II a big dissapointment. It came to the point where I wished for the movie to end so I could get up and leave. The first movie, although it had it's flaws, was a MUCH better movie than this. I'm not saying you'll feel the same as I. I mean, go ahead, watch it, but don't expect too much from it.

Troubling Plot, Not Like BR!! Customer Review Rated Bad 3 - 3 out of 10
Hopefully everyone reads the reviews. This movie started well, but 10 minutes into it the movie it went bad. It seemed like the movie was about to set off on a new game, but the game changed. Then they started with an Anti-American scene in the beginning that I shrugged off. What got strange was I thought it would end there, but it goes into more America bashing. I'm Chinese but I was born American. I don't believe we're a perfect country, but I feel that noone is. This movie got me a little mad because it did a 360 on the initial plot. I thought it was clear what the kids were fighting for until the second Anti America scene popped up. At that point, I just wanted to turn it off. If you hate America, go watch this movie. It just might make you want to become a terrorist!

can't compare to the original Customer Review Rated Bad 2 - 2 out of 10
After watching the original "battle royale", I ran right out and got this one, much to my dissapointment, it was nothing like it's predcessor. The first 30 or so minutes however, did bring back memories of the first great film.. but once the real action got started, I found it a little unbelieveable and the plot hard to follow. Die-hard fans of the first movie might find something to like in this, but as for myself, I became disinterested with it.

what happened... Customer Review Rated Bad 4 - 4 out of 10
i probably wouldn't have given it such a low score if it weren't the sequel to the first (which is amazing if you didn't see it). the second one, which i hear was directed by someone different, since kinji fukusaku died during the filming due to cancer, just didn't have that magic and didn't pull you in. all it was was a senseless bloodbath with nothing other than blood and exploding necklaces to ponder on. the characters in this movie died so fast, the audience had no chance to get to know the characters and attach themselves to some of the more memorable ones as they had the chance to in the first one. the plot itself was slightly more understandable than the first one (survivors of the previous "games" beginning a terrorist group to put an end to Battle Royale), but it just didn't go the distance. The combat made the movie seem like a war movie, with loud explosions as one force is trying to breach the enemy's base. it just didn't sell as a war movie because the director was trying to keep the first battle royale feel to it. sorry, this was one of the most disappointing sequels ever in the history of cinemam just because it had big shoes to fill and didn't even come close to the brilliance of the first.

The title sums up my review enough, this movie is crap, don't watch it's unless you are really big on Battle Royale. They shouldn't have even made a sequel in the first place, since the book never had one. Don't pay for it, cause you'll most likely regret it.
