Following the great success of the 2004 feature film Be With You (a.k.a. Ima, Ai ni Yukimasu) starring Takeuchi Yoko and Nakamura Shido, the touching story was adapted into a popular television drama. In the drama version, Narimiya Hiroki (NANA) and Mimura (A Heartful of Love) play the fate-crossed lovers, while child actor Akashi Takei, who also appeared in the film, reprises his role as the couple's son. Based on a novel by Ichikawa Takuji, Be With You presents a quiet romance, both heartbreaking and uplifting, that has won over audiences throughout Asia.
After the death of his wife Mio (Mimura), Takumi (Narimiya Hiroki) is left to take care of his six-year-old son Yuji (Akashi Takei). Though a bit sickly and absentminded, Takumi manages to get by, and father and son live a quiet, uneventful life together. Before she passed away, Mio mysteriously wrote in her picture book that she would return on a rainy day one year later. Takumi and Yuji wait in hope, and on that day, they encounter in the rain someone who looks exactly like Mio, but she has no recollection of her past.

Aio Mio (by MIMURA) has been ill and finally passed away one year ago, leaving her husband Takumi (by Hiraki Narimiya) and her san Yuji (by Takei Akashi) alone. With the assistance of Mio's mothe. Ryoko (by Mita Yoshiko), their best friend Mariko (by Okamoto Aya) and his doctor Naomi (by Yo Kiumiko), Takumi lives with strong will over the year. Life is calm and stable. Mio left a sketchbook to Yuji before she died, saying that one year after she has passed away, she will return when the plum rains comes. Mio does really come back, but has already lost all her memories....
