After shocking their way to the top earlier this year, BEAST returns in autumn with their third mini-album Mastermind. The powerful titular opening track Mastermind sets the tone with heavy beats and dramatic strings. The album's main track "Breath" is composed by frequent collaborator Shinsadong Tiger and Choi Kyu Sung, with lyrics by member Jun Hyung. Another sought-after hitmaker Super Changttai, the composer of 2PM's "I Hate You" and "Tired of Waiting", was brought on for V.I.U (Very Important You). The album also includes "Clenching a Tight Fist", a soft ballad that contrasts with their usual style.

웅장한 스트링 사운드와 강렬한 비트의 음악으로 듣는 순간 퍼포먼스를 기대하게 만드는 첫 트랙 [Mastermind]에 이어지는 [숨]은 비스트를 한 차원 더 업그레이드시킬 비장의 타이틀곡이다. 작곡가 신사동호랭이와 최규성, 라도의 곡에 멤버 용준형이 작사에 참여한 곡으로 강한 신스 리프와 드럼, 비스트의 보컬이 잘 어우러짐으로써 높은 완성도를 보여준다. 특히 드라마틱한 전개와 양요섭의 놀라운 보컬 애드립, 가요에 흔치 않은 독특한 엔딩 등은 타이틀곡 ‘숨’을 더욱 돋보이게 만들고 있다.

Another great album Customer Review Rated Bad 8 - 8 out of 10
I just got my album from YesAsia in 10 days..that is fast! Very exciting to have this album, BEAST definitely would not disappoint their fans.
I love the booklet, it is packed with a lot of photos as usual. The packaging is rather odd and might just fall apart if not taken care properly.
The song Mastermind is upbeat, and I loved Breath (Soom) the best! Just watch their MV and the dance is really addictive. The other 3 songs are okay.
Comparing to their 2 previous album, I would say that new listeners should probably get the "Shock of the Era" album first to understand BEAST better.
Overall, this is another great album K-pop fans should have.

Can you Feel their Hearts?? Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
The music for this album was the same as the Shock of the New Era album only They did a slow song as
their last track. Mastermind makes you wish it was longer and Soom will make you dance as well as Break
down. The CD cover is shiny and nice but the packaging itself could be better. The booklet comes in a
random flat that falls down when you open the CD. Its CD is plain and really disappointing. The picture
booklet is good to look at and has many nice pictures of the members. If only they stuck to their last
album packaging....... it would be perfect. If your a fan then buy it. Nice just to have it. : )

Great music and awsome photos. "SO BEAST"! The packaging is cool...

Looking forward to their next album in November.

Yesasia - unfortunately do not count toward HANTEO Chart, so this purchase did not help them win any
music chart :(

Love the promotional track!

‘Soom / Breath’ immediately captured my attention when it released. I love the MV as well as the dance. As always, they looked great as well.

My only problem is that this is the first Beast mini album where I didn’t love all the tracks. It felt as if they put too much focus on the title track. Out of the tracks, I liked ‘V.I.U.’ and ‘Break down’, but did not care for the intro or the ballad track (Track 5). I usually LOVE their intros. :(

'V.I.U' has lovely vocal blendings along with off-beat repetitions during the chorus. It has a nice heavenly feeling mixed with their usual dance beat blending. 'Break Down' has more of their classic mixed beat sound with a more hip-hop/R&B sound.

I really enjoyed this album as much as i did Shock of the New Era. My fav songs are 숨 and Breakdown!!
the CD comes with a shiny cover and Booklet full of nice photos of the bandmembers. If your a fan
of Beast, make sure to add this CD to your kpop collection. For New fans: I recomend buying their Shock
of The New Era album before this one just so you know Beast fully. ENJOY!!!!!
