Based on the popular manga by Sakuichi Harold and its equally popular animated adaptation, the coming-of-age rock band drama
Beck finally hits the big screen! Directed by Tsutsumi Yukihiko (
Trick,
20th Century Boys),
Beck features a cast of the hottest young male actors working in Japan today, including Mizushima Hiro (in his last acting role before his hiatus), Sato Takeru (
Rookies), Kiritani Kenta (
Crows Zero), Nakamura Aoi (
Koizora), and Mukai Osamu (
Hanamizuki). Following a high schooler's journey into the rock world as a talented vocalist,
Beck is an intimate epic about the spirit of music and maturing to learn the importance of friendship. Like any good music films,
Beck features a rocking soundtrack by Gabriele Roberto (
Confessions,
Memories of Masuko), as well as songs by The Red Hot Chili Peppers and Oasis.
High schooler Koyuki (Sato Takeru) meets talented guitarist Ryusuke (Mizushima Hiro) and his half-sister Maho (Kutsuna Shiori) by chance one day. When Maho recognizes Koyuki's musical talent, Ryusuke decides to invite Koyuki to form a five-member band named Beck. The band eventually becomes popular when they release a single, but when the public attention becomes too focused on Koyuki, the resulting internal conflict - and other external obstacles - threaten to tear Beck apart.
Blu-ray Edition comes with a series of stage events, making of, cast interview, and various promotional material on a bonus DVD.
