　　1975年的冬天，那個特殊年代文化的貧瘠和饑渴，下鄉知青帥子（夏雨飾）偷兌《紅與黑》被公社抓了典型，由全縣有名的“鐵姑娘”隊長牛鮮花（閆妮飾）負責教育，帥子的多才多藝，頑皮率直吸引著牛鮮花，而牛鮮花的質樸、寬厚的高尚品質也牽動著帥子，對文化的渴望使二人打開了封閉的心扉。

　　高考的恢復，已身為人父並有兩個女兒的帥子毅然放棄了重點大學的錄取，帶著牛鮮花和兩個女兒回到了父母身邊，並辭職下海，南下廣州；但不知何故，從此沒了蹤影。倔犟的牛鮮花為了撫養女兒及照顧公婆拼命賺錢，成功開辦了公司。為了報復負心的丈夫，暗地裏和帥子在商海裏展開了較量，然而，隨著一切現實擺在眼前，牛鮮花終於明白帥子的用意，而此時坐在輪椅上雙目失明的帥子也在絕境中聽到了《北風那個吹》的熟悉旋律……
