　　在香港長大並在外國受教育的創作樂手Michael，因一次事故滯留北京，遇上從別省來到這個中國首都碰運氣的搖滾樂手平路，及反叛又深情的艷舞女郎楊穎。三個背景完全不同的年青人，不由自主的互相吸引著。這三個人產生了一段錯縱複雜的關係，展開了一段奇異的走穴(下鄉演唱)旅程。

　　Wandering through the Great Wall, the Imperial Palace, the Tienanmen Square as well as the chic embassy districts are our three main characters: Yang Yin, a dance girl in search of love; Ping Lu, an impetuous Beijing Rock and Roll singer in search of recognition; and Michael, a Hong Kong-born and overseas-educated composer in search of himself.

　　Through the precarious journey of these three characters, we see the delicate love-hate relationship among people from different walks of life - dreamers, doers, whiners, money-grabbers, winners and losers. A totally different Beijing, young and restless, romantic and colorful, fragile and daring, is revealed for the first time against the powerful beat of Chinese rock & roll.

I thought this movie depicted the culture clash between HK and China very well. I saw the movie in mandarin which I do not understand, but reading the subtitles was not so bad. This is one of Shu Qi's better performances. I thought she really stood out in this movie from all the other actors. This movie shows that she can still act and stay sexy in a movie.

just because the music is loud does not mean that is rock and does not mean that is sounds good. this movie Beijing Rocks really does not have any plot in it. it is just about a guy named Michael who beat a guy to death and goes to Beijing to get away from the press and to try to write music. but he totally fails in writing music and he totally fails at facing the music. i really did not like this movie. i watched it a few times and still did not like it. Daniel Wu made a whole bunch of bad movies but i was too into him to realize it. that was just not a good choice. never pick someone to be your favorite based on their looks because he is actually ordinary and not that great. was just a waste on my hard earned dough man. i wish i could turn the hands of the clock back and buy some other great movies. there have been great movies and shows that have been coming out in 2003 and 2004, most of them are from Taiwan.

i really like this film because the actors that were protray in it. you can feel the struggles of the three main characters, and almost relate to them in some moments. also, Daniel wu speaking madrain is way TOO CUTE!

Pseudo-art at it's best Customer Review Rated Bad 9 - 9 out of 10
I really loved this film. So what if it's an overly colorful, pseudo-artsy, music video-like rendition of a superficial presentation of chinese rock music? It was still well-done, and one of the best movies to come out last year. Its attempt to truly convey what the rock music scene is like was valliant, but jaded by its simultaneous need to stick a cheesy romance angle in, although unless most films, even the romance angle was bearable in this movie. True, it's not artsy enought to garner good reviews, and not commercial enough to garner box office ratings. But it's hybrid Taiwan/China/Hong Kong ensemble cast and overly glamorous cinematic depiction may in itself serve as a statement about the direction of the increasingly commerical mainland rock scene. All in all, this is at least the best pseudo-artistic film I've ever seen.
