Home Alone 2 - Lost in New York
February 3, 2010 My family's in Florida and I'm in New York...Who doesn't love the two original Home Alone movies?
This VCD comes in a glossy open-ended box with a plastic pull-out containing two beautiful pressed VCDs. The box and the discs are both in splendid, vibrant, crystal-clear color!
The movies contain Chinese subtitles. Now, I have no knowledge of Chinese at all but honestly, the subtitles don't bother me. In fact, they add to the import-collection aspect, right? Haha.
This and Part I and must-have VCDs!

Planes, Trains And Automobiles
February 3, 2010 Those aren't pillows! Is this one of the funniest movies ever, or what?!
This is a beautiful DELTAMAC release. The jewel case if durable and has great artwork. The discs themselves are magnificent and are pressed the same as a DVD, with a high quality print, including pictures.
The audio and video are excellent, too! There are Chinese subtitles and I have no knowledge of the language whatsoever. Needless to say, they don't bother me in the least. In fact, it adds to the foreign collection aspect, you know? Haha.

The Rugrats Movie
February 3, 2010 Excellent VCD, brought back memories!I loved watching The Rugrats on Nickelodeon as a kid. Now that I'm in my 20s, I still find myself enjoying many of my favorite television shows from yesteryear. Since I have never been able to get my hands on any of the original series (yes, I've tried usenet, torrents, etc.), The Rugrats Movie is the next best thing!
I had just hopped in bed the other night when I finally played this VCD and ended up staying up and enjoying every minute of those babies... Haha.
The video and audio quality are excellent. The video looks crisp and the colors are vibrant. Animation typically shows far fewer digital artifacts than live action film, with the exception of high movement scenes, so this made the film look even better. The audio is likewise superb.
Lastly, the packaging itself is nice. The jewel case is full of color photos and reveals two beautifully pressed VCDs. At $5.99, I just had to have it!

Rush Hour 3 (VCD) (Hong Kong Version)
February 3, 2010 A good VCD.I'll start by saying that I was absolutely crazy about the first two Rush Hour films. I find the comedic mixture of Jackie Chan, the foreigner who struggles with English but is always quick witted, and Chris Tucker, the hilarious Black style on top of his say-anything act, to be GENIUS! Haha...
That being said, this Rush Hour 3 VCD is pretty decent. The jewel case stands with the spine horizontal for some odd reason. Also, the movie is formatted in 16:9, rather than the 4:3, which I've always liked about VCDs. I own plenty of DVDs that are in widescreen, but I like to watch a film that fills my small bedroom television when I'm laying in bed at night.
From a technical standpoint, the video and audio quality is very good. However, being in 16:9, the quality limitation of VCDs becomes apparent. With the picture having such a reduced vertical resolution, the movie loses clarity. Note that I'm not talking about digital artifacts.
In the end, I gave this VCD an 8/10. Had the option been available to give it a 9, I would have certainly opted for that, instead. This is an excellent release, but I cannot get over the decision to use widescreen. I believe they ought not to be used on VCDs. If the movie was in 4:3 I'd be clicking the "10" right now...

The Adventures Of Indiana Jones
February 3, 2010 A beautiful VCD boxset for Indiana Jones!I, like most other kids raised in America, love Indiana Jones. However, when I purchased this VCD boxset, I hadn't seen the films since i was a young teenager. Today I'm 22 years old, so I couldn't wait for its arrival.
The boxset includes the 3 original films of the Indiana Jones Trilogy and 3 discs with a bonus documentary on the making of the films. Oh, and the documentary isn't some old piece they dug up and threw in a set. No no no... This documentary was filmed especially for the film's VCD release.
All of that aside, the VCDs themselves are of the utmost quality. The audio and video for all three films is superb. The boxset itself is of extremely high quality with textured images on the box. The boxset folds out to reveal 9 beautifully pressed VCDs!
By the way, these movies have Chinese subtitles, along with the bonus discs. I'm a bilingual Italian and English speaker and have no knowledge of Chinese. That being said, the subtitles are hardly bothersome to me. For $30, I'm not complaining. Plus the subtitles kind of add to the imported collector aspect ;)

The picture and sound quality are superb. The video is even in letterbox format, rather than fullscreen! This is quite a rarity on VCDs.
A+ :)
