香港映画界の常識を覆した伝説の兄弟、ホイブラザーズ。それまで北京語での上映が主流だった香港では、彼らのブレイクを機に広東語での上映が広まったという。ブルース・リー亡き後の香港映画界を担い、牽引してきた偉大な男たちである。そんな彼らの快進撃のきっかけとなったのが「ホイブラザーズ・ショウ」である。ホイ四兄弟の長男・マイケルと末弟・サミュエルがホストを務め、1971年からテレビ放映され大人気となったバラエティ番組だ。この番組の大ヒットをきっかけに、日本でも'80年代に大ヒットした「Mr. Boo」シリーズが誕生することとなった。
