Better Halves (2003) teams up Maggie Cheung Ho Yee, Steve Ma, Moses Chan, and Joyce Lee (a.k.a. Koy Ming Fai, the famous Cantonese opera singer) to offer an entertaining drama about the ancient profession of matchmaking. Apart from the amusing story, Better Halves also tells much about old Chinese marriage customs. Well-received by TV fans, its ratings entered the top ten list among all TVB dramas in 2003. Maggie Cheung and Steve Ma portray two ancient matchmakers who want to beat each other and earn the title "Best Matchmaker of the World". Both of them want to hook up a government official (Moses Chan) with a girl who belongs to the most prosperous clan in the nation. In face of a suddenly emerging strong competitor (Joyce Lee), the two form a difficult alliance which works surprisingly well. While they devote their time to help others find their true love, who can help them with their own fortunes?

One of the richest families in Chang An is offer ring a huge commission to find a match for their daughter. Matchmaker Chuen Ka Fook (MA CHUN WAI), whose nickname is the "Golden Bridge", fights for the commission with another famous matchmaker LIN PAK HOP (CHEUNG HO YEE), the "Golden Fan". FOOK is a mean person but he also treasures friendship. They are both targeting MO FEI (CHAN HO), a sheriff who is from a rich family. FOOK and HOP argue all the time, therefore, LINGWU HEI (KOI MING FAI), the royal designated matchmaker, has her chance.

FOOK and MOP realize that uniting their processional knowledge is better than fighting over huskiness with each other, so they set up a matchmaking company together. On the grand opening day, FOOK realizes that the bride of the blind marriage that he ran away from is none other than....
