Big Mama Vol. 4 - Blossom

Six months of arduous effort and the screening of almost five hundred demos wasn't easy for these soul mamas, but Big Mama's fourth album, Big Mama Vol. 4 - Blossom, is finally here. By teaming up with composers they had never worked with before, Big Mama focused on producing the best sounds for the mainstream audience, as well as bringing out the group's wide range of vocals. Big Mama Vol. 4 - Blossom is produced by both Big Mama and Cho Young Soo. Cho is revered in the industry as the master of mid-tempo ballads, a reputation earned through songs such as SG Wannabe's "Glow" and See Ya's "Crazy Love Song". So does this mean Big Mama is switching to the mid-tempo ballad route? Not quite. Producer Cho brought in a dream team of composers, including Kim Tae Hyun and Suh Jae Ha, to concoct a unique blend of melodies. "Betrayal" (Track 1), "Heaven" (Track 2), "Welfare" (Track 3), and "Promises of the World" (Track 4) all bear Cho's Midas touch.

아름다운 멜로디와 다채로운 색으로 꽃 피운 빅마마 4집 [Blossom]

4집의 절대적 컨셉은 [멜로디를 기반으로 한 다채로운 음악]이다. 이번 앨범은 빅마마가 6개월 동안 기울인 모든 노력과 욕심과 결실의 총체라고 할 수 있다. 이번 앨범을 위해 그동안 받은 데모곡들만 500여곡이 넘을만큼, 많은 성의를 기울였다. 특히, 그동안 주로 함께 했던 프로듀서들, 작곡가들이 아닌, 새로운 작곡가들을 대거 투입하여 [멜로디] 위주의 대중성과 퀄리티를 함께 꾀했으며, 빅마마 멤버들도 다양한 성격의 가창 퍼포먼스를 선보이며, [국민가수 빅마마]로의 위상을 한층 다질 예정이다.

이번 앨범의 프로듀서는 조영수와 빅마마가 함께 했다. 그동안 SG워너비, 씨야 등 '미디엄 템포의 전령사' 로 알려진 조영수를 프로듀서로 지목했을 때, 가요관계자들과 네티즌들은 [빅마마]마저 [미디엄 템포]를 부르는 것에 대한 우려를 표했다. 그러나, 빅마마가 조영수와의 작업을 선택한 이유는, 세간에 알려진 것보다 넓은 음악적 스펙트럼과 그만이 가진 멜로디 작곡 능력에 대한 믿음에서 출발했다. 또, 이러한 기대에 걸맞게 조영수는 그의 작곡팀인 김태현, 서재하와 함께 그의 특기인 아름다운 멜로디 플레이로 최고의 노래를 선사해주었다. 이번 앨범에서 조영수는 트랙 1번에서 4번까지인 [배반] ,[천국], [안부], [세상의 약속들] 등 총 4곡을 프로듀싱했다.
