BLADESTORM Premium Box (Limited Edition) (Japan Version) XBox 360

Bladestorm brings a unique mix of real-time-strategy and hack-and-slash battlefield brawling to the XBox360. Publisher Koei and developer Omega Force are best known for their various Dynasty Warriors (Shin Sangoku Musou) and Samurai Warriors (Sengoku Musuo), and Bladestorm shares much in common with the fan-favorite series, such as large battlefields filled with warriors, and some of the same button-mashing gameplay. What separates this new variation is the setting: Medieval Europe, instead of Ancient China or Feudal Japan. After umpteen games set in Asia, Koei has finally moved west.

Players start in a tavern where they create and customize a player, including choosing sides, weapons, and even comrades. After the player accepts missions, they're put upon the battlefield, where they can run around and whack foes to their delight. However, actually completing a mission requires more strategy, plus plenty of supporting warriors that players can obtain simply by claiming them on the battlefield. These warriors respond to the player's commands, and will swing swords, fire arrows, or defend encampments upon order. Another new twist is that the action has become more strategic, losing the "mash buttons as fast as you can" action gameplay for an active battle system utilizing a timer. Players can only perform so many moves in a unit of time, so they have to exercise judgement to get the most out of their troops. With the superior abilities of the XBox360, expect faster, smoother, and more impressive graphics than previous Koei games on the PS2 and Xbox.
