Hugo Ng plays a fictionalized re-imagining of notorious serial killer Wong Chi Hang in Bloody Buns, a grisly Category III thriller based on actual events. In the much-publicized actual case, the discovery of severed limbs in Macau led to the revelation of a sick murder spree by Wong (Hugo Ng), a wannabe restaurateur who murdered an entire family in cold blood, and then used their remains to make stuffing for his restaurant's BBQ pork buns! Bloody Buns recounts the tale of Wong's sickening actions with plenty of over-the-top emotions and cartoonish gore that serves to turn a horrific story into a suitably satirical one. Chan Ming Kwan is the cop who captures and interrogates Wong, while her buffoonish colleagues look on in the background, and occasionally salivate over the suspiciously meaty BBQ pork buns that Wong serves up in his restaurant. Blood Buns is a suitably sick thriller for fans of Hong Kong's true crime genre. The same real life crime served as the basis for an earlier film, The Untold Story, which starred Anthony Wong in an award-winning turn as sick scumbag Wong Chi Hang.
