Noted character actor Roy Cheung gets a rare starring role in Bloody Cops, a taut cop drama co-starring singer Stephanie Che. Cheung plays Tam, a workaholic cop whose life becomes unexpectedly filled with mystery and possible betrayal. Tam's time on the job takes him away from wife Pinky Cheung, who's bitter from feeling neglected. But Tam takes on a bizarre case at his former high school involving a teacher (Michael Tong) who was killed and stuffed into the school's time capsule. The baffling mystery keeps him away from home and brings him into close contact with one of the suspects, the teacher's girlfriend (Stephanie Che), whose charming, mysterious nature begins to enchant the obsessed detective. But the players and circumstances around him grow murkier and murkier, and even a cop as used to darkness as Tam might be surprised at what's in store for him. Full of intriguing plot twists and recognizable Hong Kong actors including Ken Wong and Luo Lan, Bloody Cops is an offbeat murder-mystery with effective performances and an uncommon attention to character.
