Chow Yun Fat stars as a struggling stuntman in the solid 1983 action drama Bloody Money from director Wong Shu Tong and screenwriter Alfred Cheung. The film takes audiences through the harrowing trials and tribulations of the job through the life of stuntman Bullet. Brought into the trade by his father who is a martial arts choreographer, Bullet is an upright youth who works hard and walks proud despite his humble economic background and dangerous line of work. For Bullet and his father, every dollar is earned with their own blood and perspiration. A great opportunity comes up for Bullet to switch to acting, but at this time his father is critically injured in an accident. Unable to come up with the money to treat his father, Bullet turns to crime.

Bloody Money sees Chow Yun Fat in the formative years of his film career. At this point the charismatic superstar had already appeared in close to twenty films, but he was still known first and foremost as a television actor. His career would gain quick speed in the early to mid-80s, exploding to iconic proportions in 1986 with A Better Tomorrow, but in 1983 Chow was still somewhere in between, already a huge star thanks to television, but not yet able to fully convert that fame to the silver screen.
