BoA Live Tour 2008 "The Face" is the best tour as of yet. Well, maybe Best of Soul was a bit better, but this tour is one of the best. I enjoyed watching it immensely. BoA's vocals were magnificent and her dance routines were very well choreographed and executed. There were a lot of ballads and dance songs, so it was very balanced, although during the ballads she just stood there like a dead fish, not doing anything but singing. That kind of put me off, but the rest of it was GREAT! It was so great that it compensated for the dead fish parts. The audience was also very involved, clapping and going wild with BoA (much better than the Made in Twenty (20) Tour audience =_=) My favourite performances were: Gyappu ni yarareta! (especially the scene with Ultraman! That was like the funniest), Bad Drive and Sweet Impact (the dance was sooo good. You have to watch it), and the Old Skool Medley (it's nice to revisit her earlier releases) |

BoA has never worked so hard for a tour before. She finally has a choreographer who is challenging her skills & making her bring it. "Bad Drive", most mentionably, shows off that natural rythmn she was born with. The outfits & setlist is a HUGE step up from the "Made In Twenty" concert setlist which seemed to have been chosen at random out of a big barrel of mediocre. This one has more new songs than she usually includes and (omg. THANK GOD) there is no "Outgrow". She does perform some of her beloved classics in a medley which was wisely chosen & her vocals sound great. Only thing I miss is the beaming happiness like in her first two concerts she had ever done. This one seemed more work than play, but regardless, the work did pay off because I think fans will be pleased. On her American debut, umm...I think she's more than talented enough, but I just don't think America will like her squeaky-clean style & image. I hope she returns to Korea soon for that Korean album I'm so patiently waiting for (>_<)'' Anyway! I was pleasantly surprised seeing the bits & pieces from this show which lead me to preorder. It's sure to be exciting as it is talent displaying. (^.^) |

Not Bad ,But; a lot of old material...
| If any of You folks have read any of my reviews ,you know i will tell it straight, i saw a lot of this dvd allready, it was o.k. but A LOT of the songs are very old ,What happened to the material ,pop AND ballads she released earlier this year 08 NOT ,6 to 8 years ago ,i guess she is getting ready for her big transition to the U.S.A. (which; by the way ; i still don't agree with) Lee Soo Man is trying to be slick ,won't work !!! he even stated BOA is SM entertainment ,pretty bold statement ,considering Almost all of her career has been in JAPAN ,not Korea ,a lot of her younger fans ( especially asian ) are not that excited about the new U.S. move . THE SMART Move, would have been to release a Korean album and do some concerts THERE first...well being in the U.S. i will be waiting for the album and tour (good luck BoA,you will need it)..This is still a good concert dvd ,as someone whom has released 2 albums and some singles on an independent ,i feel this will make or break BoA ,if she does well here ,she will be the QUEEN !! i still love her style and Charisma , (IF she doesn't change and do all hip-hop) in the U.S. if she doesn't succeed ,i guess back to Japan, she has been performing over 8 years, she needs to mature as does her music, (more ballads and pop ) kinda like Hyun Jung Kim..anyhowze good luck Boa wish you well ...But don't forget where you started and are from..take care all... |
