This is probably the least known of Jet Li's films, and is the one film which he directed. It has a good story which takes place after WWII in the mainland, and has to do with locals bullied by the American soldiers, a father and daughter and lots of fighting. It's not like the Shaolin Temple fights, either. These are brutal, bloody, knockdown, and drag out (and around) bouts. It gets depressing, dark and grim but has a nationalistic heroism to it in the end. It should be seen once just see what type of film Jet makes when he's at the helm. It may not be upbeat and cheerful like his many other films, but it's well-made.
