Each episode focuses on one of up to 150 canine breeds. In each episode we will select one or two dogs that serve as our main guides through the colorful world of purebreds. Through interviews with owners, trainers, judges, breeders and veterinarians, we will explore the development of a ‘top dog’.

Airedale Terrier
The Airedale Terrier was first bred to chase down otters along the Aire River in the UK. In the following years, the breed expanded its hunting abilities to include wild cats and big game. They made excellent warriors and rescue dogs during the World Wars.

Siberian Husky
The Siberian Husky is highly intelligent and fearless. With a build that helps it sustain energy over long runs, the Husky is able to run long distances, and its double-coat allows it to endure long periods in cold weather.

Bernese Mountain Dogs
Bernese Mountain Dogs, the pride of Switzerland, were used for pulling carts up and down the country’s steep hills. Today, Bernese make use of these instinctive skills in Draft Dog competitions against other mountain dogs.

West Highland White Terrier
The Westie shares its family history with other Scottish terriers including the Cairn and the Scottie. Terriers of this region were created to rid communities of unpleasant rodents. Their compact builds and confident spirits make them a popular pet today.
