美國女華僑Crytal 為了學習中國陶瓷技術來到香港，找到大師任伯希，任曾在北京故宮博物館工作，以復古代陶瓷絕藝而獨步當世。可惜他經歷過文化大革命後身心受創，而當年整他的紅衛兵，居然是他的親兒子。他現隱居貧民區，與一班文革餘生的知識份子為伍。任因兒子拒絕繼承其衣砵而傷透了心，不情願地收了Crystal 做徒弟，可是Crytal 既誠懇又勇於抗爭，終於贏得到他的信任和尊重。任決定用真人的骨灰做一件古代極著名陶瓷傑作，最後累壞了身體，花瓶還在�P內燒製，Crystal 也堅持協助他完成最後的心願。
