A brutal prison drama which delves into the corruption and cruelty of prison life. Henry Brubaker, a prison warden who has himself arrested and thrown into his own Arkansas jail in order to find out what conditions for prisoners are really like. Here he finds all kinds of corruption. It is especially shocking when he unearths a huge graveyard of dead prisoners. His harrowing discoveries lead to vast prison reforms. Yaphet Kotto, Jane Alexander, Murray Hamilton, Wilford Brimley and Morgan Freeman also star; directed by Stuart Rosenberg.
