1950年、ソウル。ジンテとジンソク兄弟は、自分たちの母親とジンテの婚約者ヨンシン、そしてその弟妹たちを支えながら、貧しくとも仲睦まじく暮らしていた。そんななか、6月に朝鮮戦争が勃発。ジンテとジンソク兄弟はなんの準備も保障もないままに、2人揃って徴兵されてしまう。戦地に赴いた兄ジンテは、自分の命を犠牲にしてでも弟ジンソクの将来を守ろうと誓い、鬼のごとき兵士へと変貌して行く。ジンテは、戦功を上げて太極勲章を授与されれば、弟の除隊を認めるという上官の言葉を一途に信じていたのだが…。
「シュリ」で韓国映画ブームの立役者となったカン・ジェギュ監督による、観るものの心を揺さぶる戦争巨編。コリアン・スター四天王の2人、チャン・ドンゴンとウォンビンを主演に、韓国映画史上最高の製作費を投入してハリウッド映画を凌駕する戦闘シーンを作り上げ、激しくも切ない兄弟の絆を見事に描き切っている。

I thought this movie was pretty sad....like woo bin had this illness and had to go to war with his older brother and his older rother rwill do any thing to sent woo bin back home....
