beautiful butterfly....
| this album is really a feast to the ears!! both the vocal and music arrangement are superb!! not the usual "commercial" album. but i'm sure if the packaging includes some kind of memoirs or booklet abt the play would definitely be great, even it is priced at a higher price. |

| I have to admit that I have never bought her album before. I decided to buy this album as I am fond of the story of the famous chinese folk tales and curious to find out how she interprets it in a modern way. This album is surprising sumptuous and so rich and loving it. I love Track 2, which I believe is one of the theme song of the album. The simple piano music really effective. THe melody is beautifully sad. Probably I have seen the MTV and I feel it even more. Track 4's arragement reminds me of Bjork. Track 5, she suddenly becomes a rock chick. It is kinda interesting with piano and the simple backup vocal at the interlude. Track 5 reminds me of a song from Karen Mok from her most brilliant album I heard, Golden Flowers. Track 6 suddenly become so quiet, but is suddenly exploded with electrifying sound. Absolutely rock! Track 7 with the simple melody is beautifully haunting. I love Track 9. I love the lyrics. The MTV is obcure but the the lyrics tell you all. It is one of my favourite other than Track 2 and track 13. The simple guitar and flute accompying the song are really beautiful. It is one of my favourite. Track 11 somehow has a very heavy theatrical flavourto it. The tempo slowly picked up and the bass slowly getting louder and rocker every minute. The melody has a sense of urgency. Track 12 is very nice and clean with just simply voice and piano. Sometimes is nice to hear simple melody with one instrument instead of over-arranged songs. I like the fact that they put a very simple and clean melody after a powerful rock song. It is kinda cleansing to your ear after a heavy song. It then bring you to somewhere a bit obscure. I like the prelude of Track 13. It gives me a strange feeling. It reminds me of some old films. This album has a lot of lovely tune with many styles. I did not feel bore. Worth every penny. |

| I must admit that I had my doubts at first. Some of the first opening chapters made me thought that the play wasn't going to be anything like what I expected it to be. The concept of using a new age version of "Butterfly lovers" is truly brilliant. I found myself getting more and more in touch with each character as the stroy progressed. Denise and Endy's acting skills were surprisingly outstanding. I was actually on the verge of tears as I saw the powerful crying by Endy and Denise. However, I thought that the actor of "Ah Joe" was definitely a misfit for the part and that someone else could have done a much better part. Furthermore, I wished that Endy and the other cast members would sing more. Also, the screen would blacken out for way too long in many instances. Even so, the musical brings one on a great emotional rollercoaster. I only wished that I could have seen it in person. |

Denise' songs are getting more and more difficult to sing. No one in HK can really replace her at this point because her albums represent the true meaning of art. The album's expressions come out, and listeners will appreciate how much effort and passion has been put into it. Very good lyrics again this time (but I must say that it's getting harder to understand). Please note the last lines in Rolls Royce. My favorite songs are actually her faster songs, such as Someone's Following Me and Can't Age. |

I am extremely IMPRESSED with this album...I have not heard such good album lately! Man am I impressed. I especially love the Butterfly track! I also saw the MTV of it. My view on the Butterfly symbol is that in traditional Chinese culture, the butterfly signifies the spirit of the people who passed away. My view does make sense with the song's lyrics. Denise passed away and that's why she has told that guy in the elevator to ask her out for lunch BEFORE it's too late. I am really impressed...Denise is really pretty too eh :) |
