Yuen Cheung Yan, action director of Charlie's Angels and brother of Matrix choreographer Yuen Woo Ping, directs Coup de Grace (a.k.a. By Hook and Crook) an entertaining action comedy with some surprising bursts of action! Funnyman Nat Chan Bak Cheung stars as Fred, a dopey jewelry company employee due to wed the impossibly pretty Tina (gorgeous Michelle Reis). But Fred's stash of diamonds is stolen, leaving him with no feasible dowry with which to please Tina's tough dad (Wu Fung). To replenish his depleted funds, Fred schemes with smarmy buddy Seng (Sin Lap Man) to steal some diamonds from his own company. But the plan doesn't exactly go as intended, and soon a gang of robbers, the cops, and even Tina's dad all seem to be after Fred and Seng! Can Fred win over Tina's dad, clear his name, and still marry the impossibly pretty Tina? Inventive action and appealing comedic performances highlight the entertaining and unexpected Coup de Grace!

一名當珠寶店售貨員的小人物 - 謝菲，有一批儲蓄多年的私己鑽石，價值七十萬港元，原本打算把它賣掉用作與女友婷婷結婚之用，不料被兩名匪徒搶去。因謝菲不相信保險，故沒有買下任何保險，而七十萬的鑽石就此白白沒有了。婷婷父親得知此事後，藉此取消婷婷與謝菲的婚事，謝菲沮喪不已。謝菲在公司有一好友鯇魚生，此人爛賭成性，常向謝菲借錢，而珠寶店刻薄老板便是生的舅父。生欠下一筆貴利債，謝菲亦自身難保，兩人陷困境之際。一日，謝菲無意中發現有人欲打劫珠寶店，而同時得知被老板騙去原屬於自己的七十萬保險金。謝大怒，而生更不值舅父所為，遂出起尾注之計，比賊人先一步偷龍轉鳳，不料匪徒大哥擺了一內應在珠寶店內，查知是謝與生所為，展開一連串追殺與恐嚇……

Harvey, a jewelry shop clerk, has been saving for years to get married to charming Ding Ding. But he is robbed of all his saving in jewelries. Ding Ding's father of course calls off the wedding. Harvey has a colleague and friend, Fish. Fish is a gambler who's always in debt. He keeps his job only because the boss is his uncle. Fish learns robbers are coming to the shop. Harvey finds the boss has stolen his insurance money. So the two substitute all the shop's diamonds with fakes. The robbers are angry. They go after the two young men. A trop is set and Harvey and Fist are caught and tortured......
