This customer review refers to Crystal Kay - Call me Miss... (Korean Version)
I love this album! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
This is by far one of my favorite albums of the year!! All the songs are good and I didn't skip a single track. Of course all of the singles are really good, but I love 1. Baby Girl 5. Telepathy and 6. KTK. Track 10. is really good because it features a sample of Motherland from her past album as the chorus. I've been listening to this CD everyday since I got it! Way to go C-Kay!

Excellent CD Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
I have always liked Crystal Kay. This is one of her albums where she has grown up a bit more and she's more mature. You can tell in her voice that she's been doing some intensive voice training. So far, my favorite track on this album is Kirakuni. This track shows that Kuri would do well if she crossed over to the states. Song is completely sung in English, except for where she says Kirakuni here and there. I already know that Kuri is fluent in English, so she should definitely cross over. This song just might be the song to break through to the states.

Anyway, all the tracks on this particular album of hers are good. I haven't heard one song that made me want to skip to the next. I could listen to each track all the way through. On a couple of her others, I found myself skimming through once in a while. This album is definitely good. I like. WAY TO GO KURI!! KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!

Aside from that, her look has changed alot too... when I saw one of her more recent photos, I almost didn't recognize her. I was like wow, she has toned it up a lot. She's pretty, and she's got the talent. She's awesome. I really hope one of her next moves is to come over to the states. I'm certain she would do well. She already most of what it takes to be successful, if not all of it. Buy this CD. You won't be disappointed. I guarantee it. Especially for the true Kuri fans.

PERFECT 10! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
CK is sooooo talented. This is a really good CD! Although I haven't heard a lot of her other music, the first song of hers that got me liking her style was Boyfriend part II. Her voice is so relaxing and really easy to listen to. I wish she would come to the United States I know she'd sell lots of music! ^_^

Just ok... Customer Review Rated Bad 5 - 5 out of 10
I love CK but this album is not that great. Kirakuni is the only good song. Hip-Pop songs like baby girl are just not up to par with Namie Amuro. And more popish songs such as I Know are just too bland. She needs to go back to her Crystal Style or ever 4REAL days when she was ok with expiramenting with emotional ballads and funk. She even recycles Motherland on Fly To You. I know that Motherland was her biggest hit but she needs to move on already. I just hope that her next CD will be better and not so dull...But I am still a fan of her.

Crystal just rocks!! Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
OH MY GAWD I don't have this cd yet >_< but i just had to reply to that comparing Crystal Kay to Utada Hikaru/Janet Jackson!..Sadely Utada Hikaru doesn't have a voice as warm and beautifull as Crystals' I know cause I'm also a Hikki fan..I also got Hikki's english cd and they are terrible >_<. Crystals' voice doesn't sound like Janet Jacksons voice at all! Crystal sings beuatifull in japanese and english her voice is very warm and she sings flawless! My boyfriend doesn't like asian music..but he agrees that Crystal has the best voice. I was embaressed to listen to Double's song *Bed*...I love this song but she sung completely out of tone >_<...I now only listen to it when I'm alone hahaha.
But really Crystal Kay is a great artist and I love her pop/r&b style. I hope she'll sing more ballads too her voice is perfect for it!! And she has to keep making the upbeat songs like *Make you mine*..such a fab song O_O ....she totally beats Amerie..Crystal just has a better voice.
Next to T(Tasha)they have probally some of the best asian female singers i've heared.

Okay, Crystal Kay was one of my biggest introductions to Japanese R&B. Before hearing Crystal Kay infact, I didn't even even concider putting the words 'Japanese' and 'R&B' together. Since that time a few years back, popularity of urban music has been steadily increasing and gaining recognition in Japan. There has been a big expansion of both the number of rappers and R&B singers. There's still the oldies like DOUBLE, AI, m-flo, foh, Zeebra, MISIA to a degree.. but there has been the emergence of a whole new generation in Miliyah Kato, Kaori Natori, Mummy-D.. the trendy 'Korean wave' that has hit Japan has brought with it a strong field of R&B singers such as Bi and Cheon Sang Ji Hi to name a couple.
Crystal Kay has always been a strong player in the game, releasing a consistent string of singles and albums since she debuted at age 13. She's come an awfully long way. She's a veteran in this game, and yet she's only 20.
It's easy to see when comparing 'Call Me Miss...' with her debut how much she has matured not just vocally but stylistically. Like her previous albums, 'Call me Miss' comprises of American influenced R&B. However, what sets it appart from American R&B imo, is that she still uses POP, something that's practially gone into hibernation in the Western music world. Japan's bubblegum 'kawaii' culture means that naturally, pop is still thriving in the East. Every track on 'Call Me Miss...' brings something refreshing. The beats, composition, instruments on this album have a ring of nostalgia to them. It's not original or new, but that's what's good about it. Along with modern R&B inspired beats there's 70's funk, 90's pop.. the ever interesting mix of Japanese with English being sung by someone who CAN actually sing in both languages (none of this Engrish crap for bi-lingual Kuri) and sound very Western, and very soulfully sexy whilst still bringing the Asian vibe.
'Kirakuni', when it was released as a single hit me as a great song straight away. The beats are so original and catchy, and exactly how pop-R&B should sound like. 'Kirakuni, take it easy,' KC drawls cheekily in her smooth voice 'throw you hands up if you feel me'.. The use of vocal editing equiptment is clearly something CK likes, and it works well with her style. Most obviously, 'fly to you' uses it at the start (think Twista 'through the wire') to the lyrics of 'Kiss'. I personally loved this idea of mixing an older song with a new one, and yet the feel of 'fly to you' is completely different to 'kiss'. My favorite song on the album on first listen! 'Two as one' with CHEMISTRY was another great pop-vibed single. Reflective of 'Kirakuni' in style with soft percussion, a cute upbeat boys and girls song.Other songs worth mentioning.. 'Happy Life' has a GREAT vibe. I love this one too - the type of instruments employed all the way through sounds futuristic and psychadelic at the same time, and are juxtaposed with a cute tune which Kuri sings to. 'Hero' and 'Baby Girl' are not standoutish to me, mainly becasue I've heard such similar styles in so many other songs but still very cute and appealing.
'Telepathy' has a great smooth vibe.. 'I Know' sounds SO much like UK R&B to me.. kind of grimy and garage with pop influence in the verses (I'm reminded of Sugababes) and then cuter and playful sounding in the chorus..nice track. the tune to ' Nobody But You' reminds me of Mariah Carey's 'We Belong Together' but the coupling vocal tune is on a whole different level. While the music sounds like it could easily fit a ballad, CK sings more upbeat and agressively, again quite cute and well put together.
As a whole, I love this new album. It may seem tiring to those who are getting sick of R&B, but I feel CK always does something a bit different or special on her albums, setting herself apart from the rest. To me, she's the best and most consistant R&B entertainer (maybe not the best vocally) in Japan's industry. She's outlived my love of DOUBLE, BoA, m-flo, Hikaru, Asuka, Namie..you name 'em.. Years after I discovered her, she's still up there on my list of most played singers.. Get this!
Person below me.. CK is African America/ Korean but she went to American school in Japan. She's fluent in both English and Japanese.

When she sings in Japanese, she sounds like Utada Hikaru, and when she sings in English, she sounds like Janet Jackson. Sometimes when I listen to her cds, I wonder where her originality is... But, this is a good album, and it became one of my favorite cds in my collections.
