This is a compact EF-S telephoto zoom lens that delivers focal length equivalent to 88-400mm in 135 format . It is equipped with a newly designed ultra-compact Image Stabilizer that offers image stabilization effect up to a shutter speed around 4-stop faster. This IS unit is also capable of identifying camera panning mode from normal shooting automatically.
Featuring 1.1m minimum focal distance and magnification of 0.31x, the lens uses newly developed 12 lens elements in 10 group design and 1 Ultra-low Dispersion (UD) lens that helps reduce chromatic aberration. High-speed CPU and improved AF algorithms provide high-speed auto focus. What's more, its circular aperture can produce beautiful out-of-focus image and lens coatings are optimized to minimize ghosting and flare.
