Darian Fawkes was a pretty thief, and he accepted to undergo an untested human experiment that implants a 'quicksilver' gland in his head that allows him to turn invisible. He is forced to enlist as a secret weapon for a top-secret government organization in return for a counter-agent which keeps the gland from driving him insane.

Darien is ordered to investigate a Catevari - a human who is poisonous to the touch after a series of unexplained murders leave the Agency baffled.
