Ccotbyel Vol. 4 - Yellow Butterfly

Ccotbyel has been promoting traditional Korean music for the past ten years. Not only does she mesmerize listeners with her skillful haegum (a traditional Korean two-string fiddle) play, but she's also a pioneer in a crossover music genre mixing both traditional and contemporary styles. For her 4th album, Yellow Butterfly, she combines her traditional haegum play, European folk music and orchestral backup to come up with a spellbinding musical melange. Some of the nation's top composers including Kim Shin On, Park Hye Ri and Kim Jae Hoon, as well as Japan's all-round guitarist Matsumiya Mikihiko take part in her new works, covering everything from classical to gypsy folk music. Yellow Butterfly also features a large-scale collaboration with The Prague Studio-Symphony Orchestra.

지난 10년간 해금 대중화 및 국내 크로스오버 뮤직의 선도적 역할을 맡아온 해금 솔리스트 꽃별이 3년만에 선보이는 4집 앨범 "Yellow Butterfly"는 지금까지의 앨범에서는 접할 수 없었던, 유러피언 월드뮤직의 다양성을 접목시킴으로써 기존의 크로스오버와는 확연히 다른 "해금"의 매력을 보여주는 음반으로 각인되기에 충분하다.
이번 앨범은 19세기 중세의 클래식과 유럽의 각지를 떠도는 집시와의 이색적 결합을 해금과 오케스트레이션으로 표현하였고, 총 12곡의 음악 여정은 해금 솔리스트로서의 거침없는 연주를 표현하기 보다는 극도로 정제된듯한 각 파트의 솔로 연주와 다양한 서양 민속악기들과의 완벽한 호흡을 중시하였다. 또, 프라하 스튜디오 심포니 오케스트라와의 협연을 통한 다채로움과 웅장한 스케일감을 느낄 수 있으며, 꽃별의 성숙미를 배가시키는 다채로움을 선보이고 있다.
