Costumes from the 80's definitely better. Acting, debateable. Similar cast from the 80's in the 90's version (some even in the same role!).
The story definitely seem to have more depth in the 90's version compared to the 80's. So there is something new in the 90's version compared to the 80's. If you're a fan of the series, then this might be worth a look.Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

Normally, only seeing the English version this disc gave me a new take on Disney as the Cantonese track practically gave me a new movie to watch/listen! A Man Called Hero (Special Cut)
October 4, 2001 Good intentions but needs more effortOverall not a 'bad' movie. Use to read the comics when I was younger and was expecting a bit more - a TV series would probably do more justice to the story. Not as good as 'Storm Riders' but the effects are pretty good. Goodbye Mr. Cool
October 4, 2001 Quite goodLiked the Young and Dangerous series. This movie has its moments but I felt that it glossed over a lot points. If you like Ekin Cheng then you'll probably enjoy this more. One problem with the DVD is that it is a single layer disc so you'll have to flip it half way through. I've had two bad discs sent to me, I kept the second bad disc as it only had a slight 'jump'. For some reason, me and the girlfriend thought that Andy Lau looks quite good with a bit of weight on him. It all starts well but ends a bit weakly. Great movie none the less. Worth buying.
