2005年11月からNHKで放送された、韓流アクション時代劇。一人の女と二人の男を軸に、愛ゆえの生死をかけた闘いと、決して結ばれることのない運命の絆を描いている。韓流ドラマならではの複雑でドラマチックなストーリー展開と、ワイヤーを駆使し、ワンシーンの収録に1億ウォンもの巨費を投じたという壮大なスケールのアクション・シーンが好評を博して、本国韓国では熱狂的なマニア集団も生まれた。賢くひたむきなヒロインを演じるのは、「恋する神父」のハ・ジウォン。日本放送版の吹き替えは、小川範子が担当している。

時は17世紀末、朝鮮王朝時代。首都・漢城にある左捕盗庁（チャポドチョン）で、女中の茶母（タモ）として働いていたチェオクは、その聡明さと卓越した武術の腕が認められて、犯罪事件の捜査を担うようになっていた。彼女の上司であり、左捕盗庁を指揮するファンボ・ユン従事官は、チェオクの才能と活躍を認めながらも、時に無謀になりがちな彼女のやり方をいさめる。その胸の内には、チェオクの身を案じるユンの思いが秘められていたのだが…。
