Based on Alex Shearer's satirical novel Bootleg, the animated feature Chocolate Underground revolves around the bootlegging escapades of two young British boys after the newly elected Good for You Party bans sweets and chocolate in the name of good health. With the help of their friends, Huntley and Smudger set up a booming underground chocolate business to fight the Chocolate Prohibition! A sweet and imaginative adventure for the whole family, Chocolate Underground started out as an internet anime series from Production I.G (Ghost in the Shell) and Trance Arts (The Prince of Tennis). Directed by Hamana Takayuki (The Prince of Tennis), the theatrical version of the anime with 20 minutes of new footage opened on the silver screen in January 2009.
