Love songs may be a dime a dozen, but Taiwanese singer-songwriter Chris Yu has long created a signature style with his poetically mellow ballads. His latest original album comes with ten tracks that effortlessly touch listeners' hearts with expressive melodies and a wistful maturity that can only come with time. Title song "Tired Bird Returns to Flower" (Track 1) is a quintessential Yu-style ballad that delicately combines classical Chinese imagery with Western classical instrumentals. The song's lyrics, penned by longtime collaborator Li Li Nan, compare men to birds that wander the world freely, but eventually return to that one flower, the woman who is waiting for him. His duet with Julia Peng, "Lovers' Faces" (Track 2), reflects on the yearning for a perfect love and marriage. Other songs on this remarkable album include "Embrace Me" (Track 6), "You Look Beautiful When You Smile" (Track 8), and "Don't Ask" (Track 10).

Just the same music style
| This album is better than the previous album (The Poet's Tears). I like his duet with Julia Peng (track 2). What a romantic song! The song Don't Ask (track 10) is a refurbish song by Jacky Cheung more than 10 years ago and I think this kind of song isn't match with Chris' voice. Unfortunately, Chris' music style in this album is just the same with the previous albums. He isn't brave enough to try the new music style. If he does, I believe he will be more famous. |
