July 13, 2009 Just what I was looking for -- awesome!!
I don't write reviews often, but had to log in to write one for this absolutely amazing album. I'll first say that I don't understand Cantonese (or Mandarin) so I can't comment about the lyrics unfortunately, but the music and vocals = aces! I'm not even the biggest fan of most Cantonese music, but a friend sent me some samples and I LOVED what I heard and here I am purchasing it lol. They have a really nice rock sound that's similar to some American alternative rock groups. And there's something I love about their vocalist's voice; I don't know how to describe it, but he sounds... earnest (?) when he sings. The way he punctuates all his lines with emotion <3. The overall production quality of this album is superb!
I love every single song on this album and that doesn't happen to me that often! But if I were forced to pick favorites: 一百萬人的故事 (track 1), 別說話 (track 6 + the Mandarin version track 13), 沒有這天使 (track 12), 我需要什麼 (track 3), 沒有你的假期 (track 8). :)
Check them out, you won't regret it! This is goooood rock out music.Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

January 4, 2009 Okay...This is a bit too cutesy for me (personal preference), but if you like pure bubblegum pop, this should be right up your alley :). Most of them are mediocre singers, but there are a few that can sing quite well and they carry the songs just fine.
Their second album promises to show a more mature sound, which I'm looking forward to. I think they are more than capable of just those cutesy lollipop songs ^^.Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -
October 21, 2008 Extremely promising newcomer
I had almost given up on Canto-pop (and music coming out of HK in general), but this girl is gonna save it. This is one of the best debut albums I've ever heard. All five songs on this CD are wonderfully catchy (especially track 2, Where Did U Go?). I really enjoy the versatility of this album and how well she can sing these different styles.
And I could just go on and on and on about how amazing her voice is, especially for her age (she's only 17 years old)!! It's rare to find a voice that powerful in canto-pop, seriously. Not only is her voice powerful, she controls it extremely well, singing delicately when the song calls for it and then belting as the song reaches its climax. Her voice is beautiful!! She sings with so emotion too <3. Especially in her ballads (track 3 and 5), which really show off her vocal prowess. (Be sure to youtube her live performances as well; she sounds just as amazing live!)
Buy a copy; you won't regret it <3.Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

April 27, 2008 EXCELLENT ALBUM!I'm happy to see they triumphed over all the critics and doubters to release an absolutely amazing album. LSM did know what he was doing after all.
I'm not sure why this Korean version is so much cheaper than all the other versions I've seen (and it comes with three more songs too!), but ... will most likely be ordering this. I can't write a review on those three Korean versions of their songs, but I can review the rest of the other album.
This is a VERY solid album. 6 of the songs are remakes of Super Junior's best Korean songs, the other 6 are new Chinese songs or covers of Chinese songs. I'm a huge fan of the original Korean versions, but the remakes are very well done! I was very pleased with them, especially how they jazzed up 'U' a little.
I do kind of wish they had more original Chinese songs though because those are easily the best songs on the album. It's solid pop, but the good (not too bubbly) kind. "Me", the opening track, is a great start to the album. 'At Least I Have You' (track 3) is a cover of the Sandy Lam classic and ... it is very well done, my goodness. I had doubts they'd be able to cover a classic that well, but they did it. 'Love Song' (track 5) is a very cute bubblegum pop song with adorable lyrics. 'In My Arms' (track 6) ... also a gorgeous song with an R&B-ish edge and awesome vocals from Kyuhyun and Ryeowook especially. 'The Moment' (track 11) was my personal favorite song on the whole album! SO AMAZING. I wish they had debuted with this song instead of 'U' ... Henry's violin is used to great effect in this song. The beat is very sexy :). 'The One' (track 12) is their inspirational Olympic song ~ also very well done.
SuJu M is, vocally, a very strong group. It has the two best singers from the original Super Junior group (Kyuhyun and Ryeowook) ... they have lots of lines in the songs. Donghae, Hankyung, and Siwon are also very able singers and I'm happy to hear them sing more! There are two new members in this group: Henry and ZhouMi. Henry has a lovely and soft voice and his violin playing rocks my socks. ZhouMi is easily one of the stronger singers in this group ~ he's got a really strong and lovely voice. He adds a lot to their songs and I'm very glad he's in this group.
Set aside all the controversy over the Only13 protests and whatever, this is a very, very strong album. It exceeded my own expectations by miles. ZhouMi and Henry are critical and wonderful additions to this subgroup. Please support them by purchasing this album! Hankyung said he has waited 5 years for this to happen. And now that it has, it's better than anything I could ever imagine. Well done, boys <3.Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This)

April 17, 2008 Epik High does it again!Absolutely AMAZING follow-up to 'Remapping The Human Soul' (which was also incredible!). You can't really go wrong with this group. I haven't heard all of the album yet (because I want to wait for my own album to come), but the songs that I've heard so far are really good. They collaborated with a bunch of artists for this one and all the ones I've heard so far are excellent, ESPECIALLY track 4 "One" featuring Ji Sun of Loveholic. I think that song alone makes the whole album worthwhile.
This is one of my favorite rap/hip-hop groups EVER and their music is amazing, lyrically and musically. They rap about really interesting and worthwhile topics and that makes them WIN. Please support them by purchasing their album!Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

March 12, 2008 Brilliant album~!CSJH is, hands-down, my favorite female group. They are criminally underrated imo and I don't really understand why. Poor promotion? All four girls are very strong vocalists (in fact, two of them started off as solo singers) and wonderful dancers. I own a lot of albums, but I would consider this one to be near the top. Top 5 definitely. I thought it was so good that I bought extra copies for friends, lol.
Every single song on this album is excellent! It starts off with the SMP song, "One More Time OK?" which is an awesomely catchy dance tune. (Youtube them performing it live -- in 4-inch heels -- and be amazed! They're wonderful live singers.) Other standout tracks for me are "RENEW" (omg omg this song is pure love), "Just For One Day" feat. Kyuhyun of Super Junior (this is the best song on the album, imo, and one of my favorite songs EVER, not just from CSJH), "My Everything" (the first song I ever heard from these girls and still one of my favorites), and "Dancing Queen" (acappella version of the ABBA song and very well done ~ they should sing acappella more often). But ALL of the songs are really well done, I have to emphasize. Great smattering of all kinds of genres: ballads, dance, pop, etc.
I'd give this album a 100 if yesasia let me. WONDERFUL album and well-worth the money.Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This)

September 21, 2007 Terrific Debut AlbumFirst of all, I have to say that the DBSK comparisons should just stop. They are annoying. SuJu is into more things than just music; a bunch of them emcee stuff, others act in dramas, others have radio shows, etc etc. Whereas DBSK is primarily a vocal/dance group. I think DBSK has better vocals (and they are actually my favorite group right now), but bashing SuJu JUST BECAUSE you're a DBSK fan is just LAME.
I really enjoyed this album and I think it's a great debut album for SuJu. There is a nice mix of really catchy songs in here ~ pop, rock, and ballads. Standouts for me are 'Miracle' (such a sweet and catchy song!), "Twins (Knock Out)", "Rock This House", "Over", "L-O-V-E", and "So I." But honestly I think every single song on this album is awesome and really catchy.
Then to address those people who say SuJu 'can't sing.' THEY BLOODY CAN. Sure, their voices may not be as strong as the DBSK boys, but that's because they're also concentrating on a lot of areas besides singing. Also, they've got some really good singers in their group: Kyuhyun, Ryeowook, and Yesung. The rest of them have sweet or at least decent voices and ALL of them can harmonize really well. That's really, really hard for a group with THIRTEEN MEMBERS, so give some credit where it's due.
Recommended! Good collection/mix of pop, ballads, and rockish songs. Actually, I think anyone who likes DBSK's kind of music would also like Super Junior's.Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

September 21, 2007 AMAZINGI heard a leak of this album (don't worry I've already pre-ordered this, lol; support your artists!) and srsly, it is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. The title track is the only song that matches their appearance, but guh it is so worth it; it's very energetic and fast-paced, sort of like DBSK's "O-jung.ban.hap" or "Rising Sun." This track alone is totally worth your money!
The rest of the album is filled with some trot + ballads + pop. Standouts for me are "Sapphire Blue", "She's Gone", "I Am", "Missin U", and "Hate U Love U", but seriously all of the songs are really good. I can listen to the entire album without skipping a track. Also, THEIR VOCALS HAVE IMPROVED. A lot! I was listening to their first album to compare and while I loved that 1st one too, you can totally tell their voices are stronger and more mature. Plus, the three best singers in the group (Kyuhyun, Ryeowook, and Yesung) get a lot of solo parts. And really, all of them can sing. They all harmonize really well; harmonizing is hard enough for a group of 3. But a group of THIRTEEN? That's really, really hard, and Super Junior does it VERY WELL.
Highly recommended! So good I bought two copies, lol. Share the Super Junior love!Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -
Demi God Vol. 1 - Pray
August 19, 2007 Excellent!I bought this album on a whim --- this is not even the kind of music I generally listen to (I usually lean toward r&b, pop, and ballads), but this entire album is just WOW. All the tracks are extreeeeemely catchy, especially the title track. Terrific rock sound (not heavy rock) and the lead singer has great vocals that really suit this kind of music. I like all the pop and ballads and r&b coming out of Korea (huuuuuge fan of DBSK, SG Wannabe, etc), but it's so refreshing to hear some Korean rock music! XD Highly recommended!! It's one of my favorite DBSK songs, actually. :) But the other song on this album, "Whatever They Say," is also one of the best songs they've ever recorded. These boys are very handsome, but they are more than just pretty faces ~~ they also have wonderful vocals! Do try them out! Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

February 14, 2007 Uneven, But Has Some Of His VeThis was Jay's second album and the album that cemented his status as a pop giant in Asia. This is a really terrific album. The only reason I say it is a bit uneven is because of a few of the songs sound too similar and don't show off the creativity and variety that Jay is famous for. Still, this album has some of the best songs Jay has ever recorded so far (notably 1, 3, 10).
Tracklist:
1. Love Before the Century (Ai Zai Xi Yuan Qian) - This song is AWESOME. It's the best song on this album and definitely one of the best song he's ever recorded. This is a really nice and addictive R&B song...lyrics are incredibly romantic, too.
2. Dad, I'm Back (Bo Wo Hui Lai Le) - rap/R&B hybrid. Jay sings about domestic abuse. Lyrics are haunting.
3. Simple Love (Jian Dan Ai) - LOVE LOVE LOVE this song. Also another one of my favorites and one of the best he's ever done. Really cute and uplifting song with an addictive and very memorable melody. Jay's voice sounds really good in this one, too.
4. Ninja (Ren Zhe) - Such a silly song, but tons of fun. Lots of rap fused with ancient-style music - it sounds great!
5. Can't Speak (Kai Bu Liao Kou) - gorgeous ballad
6. Shanghai 1943 - another ballad, sounds familiar to track five
7. Sorry (Dui Bu Qi) - fun R&B song
8. William's Castle (Wei Lian Gu Bao) - another R&B song, sounds like "Sorry." Neither of these songs, however, are as good as the first magical R&B song on this album, "Love Before the Century".
9. Nunchucks (Shuang Jie Gun) - also reminds me of "Ninja" and just as fun as that one, too. Really energetic song and nice fusion of the rap and ancient-style music again. Heavy on the rock...fun song to rock out to!
10. Silence (An Jing) - this is one of Jay's most popular songs...and for good reason. Beautiful ballad - the best ballad on this album and one of the best songs he's recorded.Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This) -

February 14, 2007 Very Talented Songwriter/SingeI have to admit I'm not a very big fan of C-Pop. However, Jay Chou (and Faye Wong) are exceptions; they have lots of variety in their music and I love everything they do. In Jay's case, I love the ballads, the rap, the R&B, the alternative, all of it. Also, I don't understand a word of Mandarin and I don't even like American R&B or rap, but I absolutely love all of Jay's work.
November's Chopin didn't get great reviews when it first came out, but I'd actually put it near the top of Jay's work.
Highlights of this album are:
1. Nocturne (Ye Qu) - the best song of the album, imo.
3. Hair Like Snow (Fa Rue Xue) - addictive
5. Attack From Four Sides (Si Mian Chu Ge) - great dance song! makes me want to drop everything and get up and dance!
7. Romantic Cell Phone (Lang Man Shou Ji) - nice alternative song...great guitar riffs in this song and nice melody
10. Coral Sea (Shan Hu Hai) - beautiful duet with Lara Liang Veronin; nice harmonizing here.
Actually, all the songs are quite good, and I can listen to this album without having to skip any tracks. Well, except for track 2 (Blue Storm) which kind of gives me a headache.
But this is still a very nice introduction to Jay Chou. And it should keep fans of his older albums happy. What can I say, he really is amazing. He's a diamond in the mud of C-Pop.Did you find this review helpful? Yes (Report This)
