一群在巴西貧民區長大的童黨，無分年齡界限，紛紛投身黑道行列。全副武裝化身街頭戰士，把色彩繽紛的里約熱內盧當作浴血戰場，化成遇神滅神的絕望危城。由60年代開始發展的棚戶區"Cidade de Deu"，經過20年發展，成為生人勿近的罪惡瘟床。局外人眼中的阿鼻地獄，卻無損男主角火箭的一顆赤子之心。儘管受盡欺凌長大，對成為攝影師的理想始終不離不棄。由60年代至80年代，透過鏡頭捕捉一幕幕熱血暴潮，見證毒梟摯友，無休無止的地盤爭霸，殺戮不停。
The main character in Cidade de Deus is not a person. It is a place. Cidade de Deus is a poor housing project started in the 60's that became one of the most dangerous places in Rio de Janeiro by the beginning of the 80's.
In order to portray the location, the film presents the stories of several characters, with Buscape, the narrator, as a linkage in between. Buscape is a poor black kid too frail and scared to become an outlaw but also too smart to be content with an underpaid job.
Buscape is not the real protagonist of the film, he's not the one who leads pregression, he's not the one who makes the decision on what happens next. Nevertheless, not only his lie is attached to what happens in the story but it is also through his perspective of life that we understand the humanity of a world apparently condemned to endless violence.

Ranked #18 in IMDB.com 'Top 250 Movies of All-Time', City of God (2002) is a timeless masterpiece that narrates the tales of boys growing up in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The cinematography and editing is flawless. In addition, the actors in the film were played by young amateur kids. Based on true events happening in the real Rio de Janeiro, where average life span is 30 and drug dealers are the law. Welcome to City of God. |

what i thought

i live in america and this movie took a long time to get to me but i have to say its well worth the wait. be warned if you dont like violence dont watch this film. |
