The Clazziquai Project that has caught the K-pop market by surprise with its first two albums INSTANT PIG and COLOR YOUR SOUL, which offered an unusual blend of lounge, house and classical music as well as groove and punk elements is back.
The trendy band has prepared an all-new remix CD called PINCH YOUR SOUL that features overall 11 songs. Clazziquai Project devotees and music lovers in general can look forward to such favorites as Sweety's Cosmo Remix (which can also be found on the band's Japanese version EP and 2nd album) plus the Paradox Remix of Fill This Night and the Vanilla Soul Remix of Speechless. Other recommended tunes include The Buoyant Remix of I'll give you everything that features J and Bobby Kim on vocals as well as the 2005 National Song Ceremony Commemoration song "Farewell" (Track 11).

한국적인 라운지와 하우스 음악의 1집 "INSTANT PIG" 와 클래지콰이식 하우스 리믹스 앨범인 "ZBAM" 그리고 더욱 더 펑키해지고 그루비해진 2집 "COLOR YOUR SOUL"까지 내놓는 앨범 마다 새로운 시도와 다양한 음악으로 대중성과 음악성의 중간궤도에서 유유히 항해중인 클래지콰이 프로젝트가 새롭게 내놓는 2nd Remix Album "PINCH YOUR SOUL"은 전체적으로 클래지콰이의 세련됨과 트랜디함을 배경으로 각각의 곡 마다 새로운 편곡과 음악적 아이디어로 다양한 영혼들에 대한 접근법을 제시하고 있다.
1집에 수록되었던 'Sweety'가 Cosmo Remix로 재 탄생되어 수록되며(이 곡은 일본판 EP와 일본판 2집에 Bonus Track으로도 수록) 인터넷으로만 떠돌던 음반 미 수록곡인 'Chi Chi'와 국악축전 기념 음반에 수록되어 국악과 클래지콰이와의 만남 자체만으로도 화제가 되었던 곡 인 "이별" 등 을 비롯해 2집 수록곡인 '날짜변경선', 'Color Your Soul', 'Cry out Loud', 'Speechless', 'Come alive', 'Fill this night', 'I’ll give you everything' 등이 새롭게 Remix 되어 수록 되었다.
특히 이번 앨범엔 음악적인 동료들의 참여로 인해 다양한 시도들을 보여주는데 2집 수록곡 이었던 'I’ll give you everything' 은 바비킴과 "J" 가 Featuring Vocal로 참여하여 원곡과 또 다른 새로운 느낌을 주며 이번 리믹스 앨범을 위해 새롭게 만든 곡인 "Love Mode"는 Featuring rapper로 에픽하이의 타블로와 트럼페터 "이주한"의 연주로 인해 Remix에 맛을 더하고 있다.
그리고 알렉스와 호란 역시 다양한 코러스와 더빙 등으로 여러 가지 다양한 시도들을 보여주는데 특히 'Date line(날짜변경선)'에서 호란의 불어 나레이션은 원곡과 다른 색다른 느낌을 주기에 충분하다.

Better than the last
| This remix album took a different approach than did the album ZBAM. There was a higher degree of cohesiveness with this release, as well as a stronger tie-in to the original tracks, as many of these remixes were still funk inspired, just with a little bit of a twist or more electronica added in. Unfortunately, there was no single song on this album that stood out as a phenom. On ZBAM, the Mellotron remix of Come To Me simply stood out as an amazingly well-composed and beautiful track the grabbed me the very first time I heard it. For me, I did not get the same experience on this album. Of course, the album is still far from being a bad album even without that. The new original song, Love Mode, was also very good, and I'm sure that if it hadn't been placed on this album, it would have made it on the next Clazziquai original album as it has just as much clever composition and pure stule as any of their other songs. This album has, certainly, kept my excitement up for any future releases that are to come our way from Clazziquai. Favorites were Color Your Soul (Pinch You Remix), Love Mode, Fill This Night (Paradox Remix), and Sweety (Cosmo Remix) [FINALLY, a Clazziquai song that' all in English I can understand!=P]. |

you've never really heard a remix until...
|
...you've heard clazziquai's. DJ Clazzi does not fail in creating unique beats of his old melodies. It always presents something new and refreshing. Reinvention at its best, the very essence of remixing. This album is a must have for people who'd like to hear something new and innovative. Not only does it give a new perspective over old hits but also it has collaborations with artists that deserves recognition as this group...Tablo of Epik High...J and Bobby Kim. A definite must have. |

So anxious
| Man...even though three artists are going to feature in this, they are REALLY good featuring artists. Tablo, J, and Bobby Kim. You can't pass on this album because Clazziquai is freaking awesome. New fresh beats all the time and great soothing and relaxing vocals by Alex and Horan. Clazziquai FIGHTING!!! |
