It's life as usual for Rob Hawkins (Michael Stahl-David), his brother Jason (Mike Vogel), and their friends as they gather for a party on May 22. Rob is transferring to Japan soon, and everyone is caught up with their respective relationship dramas. But all thoughts fly out of the window when New York City suddenly comes under the attack of a giant monster. The monster tears through the city, ravaging buildings and people alike, as the military scramble to fight back. The city is being evacuated, but Rob and his friends decide they have to first find their friend Beth (Odette Yustman). With camera in hand, they head out into the battle zone.
Directed by Matt Reeves and produced by J.J. Abrams (Lost, Alias), Cloverfield has redefined the monster movie. Shot in the cinema verite style, the film applies the Blair Witch aesthetic - POV hand-cam, non-famous actors - to viscerally present the monster attack from the point of view of a small group of friends. Shrouded in secrecy during production, Cloverfield generated a lot of buzz up to its release and became a worldwide hit.

제작자인 J.J.에이브람스가 아들가 함께 일본에 방문했을 당시 장난감가게에 놓은 ‘고질라’ 인형을 본 뒤 미국에도 이러한 괴물이 하나쯤 있어야겠다는 생각으로 <클로버필드>를 제작하게 됐다는 이야기부터 <클로버필드>의 시각효과와 제작과정을 살펴볼 수 있다. 제작단계부터 철처히 극비로 진행됐기에 제작과정의 이야기는 매우 흥미롭다. 또한 극장판에서는 괴물의 정체를 자세히 알 수 없었던 반면 DVD스페셜피쳐에는 괴물의 탄생과정을 자세히 살펴볼 수 있으며 극장판과는 또 다른 결말 이야기를 들을 수 있다.

Try not to puke
Try not to puke
| Imagine someone holding your head and shaking it continously for over an hour. Then they make your eyes zoom in and zoom out occasionally. If you can survive these challenges. Maybe, perhaps, you can watch this movie till the end and gives your rating. For me, I dont care if the monster is chewing up some japanese babes, cos I would be having a terrible headache and puking at the same time. |
