YesAsia Editorial Description

Funny, heartwarming, and completely charming, MBC drama Coffee Prince (a.k.a. The 1st Shop of Coffee Prince) has been the big romantic surprise of 2007. Following her memorable role in Palace, sassy starlet Yoon Eun Hye gives another career-defining performance, cutting her hair short for a lovable, gender-bending role. Also at their best are her co-stars Lee Seon Gyun from The Great White Tower and heartthrob Gong Yoo (One Fine Day), in his last drama before heading off to army service. A huge hit in South Korea, Coffee Prince is both a romantic comedy of errors and a sensitive urban drama about the dreams and confusions of young people.

Rich, irresponsible, and hot-tempered, Han Kyul (Gong Yoo) can't figure out what he wants to do with his life, but he knows he's not interested in the family business or all these blind dates his grandmother keeps arranging. Mistaking the brash, boyish-looking Eun Chan (Yoon Eun Hye) for a guy, he hires her to pose as his boyfriend and scare off his blind dates! At his grandmother's prodding, Han Kyul agrees to run a coffee shop for three months, and ends up hiring Eun Chan again, this time as a barista. Still disguised as a man, Eun Chan is happy as a clam working at Coffee Prince, developing a close friendship with Han Kyul and his musician cousin Han Sung (Lee Seon Gyun). But things get complicated when Eun Chan and a confused Han Kyul begin to fall for each other.

Sweet K-drama with perfect English subtitles Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
Coffee Prince is a really sweet K-drama. I love how it is so easy going and everyday-like, though the subject of the drama is not. The actors and actresses are perfect for their characters and I love how they are not overacting their parts. I could feel the sincerity of the story. This was the first K-drama I saw, and it made me fall in love with K-drama.

About this release (Malaysian/PMP entertainment): The English subtitles are amazing. And the language used is not just sufficient English, it's perfect English. It's actually fine language they've used in their translation. The cover is reversed, so the front is where the back normally is (for Westerners). It's a little wider than a normal DVD cover. But none of this matters, it just confuses;).

Polish those reading glasses Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
There are already a VAST amount of reviews regarding this series, so I'm not going to bore everyone by rehashing what everyone else has written …. but in a nutshell ….the series is both witty and challenging in its focus on sexuality in modern Korea but some characters feel under developed and the ending was a little abrupt.

What I want to focus on this the particulars of this Hong Kong release. The quality is excellent and you get both the original Korean soundtrack or can flick it over to a Cantonese dubbed version. In addition to the full series there is also a bonus ‘making of’ documentary complete with Eng subs. The only issue I have with this release is that while you can opt to have English subtitles you can’t remove the Chinese ones. This means you have both English AND Chinese subs on your screen at the same time which is a little frustrating as while the Chinese text is rather large the English text is quite small. Better polish those reading glasses!

Definate Korean Drama Customer Review Rated Bad 6 - 6 out of 10
Quite well acted drama. Though i found it very very typical Korean drama *Rich/Poor* kinda gets old. To be honest for the price paid for this item i don't think it was worth it but sticking to the actually drama, it was decent. Have to admit some bits were touching but generally way too much love for my liking (Sappy!!) but that's what Korean dramas are about right!? And the storyline is original *to some extent*

The nicest cup of coffee ^^ Customer Review Rated Bad 10 - 10 out of 10
Coffee Prince is simply charming. Each episode brings laughter, sorrow, joy, and sympathy for almost all of the characters. It keeps you on your toes the entire time and the humor will almost have you laughing so hard that you wet your pants. This drama was recommended to me last year by a close korean friend and I must say that it was a joy to watch. Rivaling the legendary drama Full House, I think Coffee Prince will also be one of those dramas that's never forgotten. Each character has their own personality that can relate to someone in the world. The actors do a very excellent job in their roles.

Also, the OST music to this drama is simple amazing. It's one of the best OST's I heard last year and is still one of my favorites to this day. I like the fact that not well-known bands are used because it makes the music much more personal and touching. They have amazing voices that really bring out emotion.

If you're a k-drama addict or just a starter, I highly recommend this for your collection.

This drama has a lot of mixed reviews. About 80-85percent love it while there's a 15percent who are slightly disappointed. However, from experience, usually films with mixed reviews are good because there's much to debate and think about. If you have enough energy to debate a film, then there must something about it that stirs something in you. ^^

I really enjoyed this drama. The storyline was one of a kind. Yoon Eun Hye is a really well-rounded actress and I give her two thumbs up for dressing like a boy and even cutting her hair. Gong Yoo is just too adorable. The man can cry....

I loved it!
