Gu Long's wuxia novel Jiu Yue Ying Fei (often regarded as the sequel to Xiao Li Fei Dao and the prequel to Bian Cheng Lang Zi) was adapted by Hong Kong's ATV into a martial arts drama series in the 1980s. Starring Damian Lau, Bonnie Ngai, Katie Chan, Wong Wai, Ku Kuan Chung, and Amy Yip, the series Condor in September follows the martial world adventures of swordsman Ye Kai (Damian Lau) and his lover Ding Linglin (Bonnie Ngai). Ye is entrusted with the responsibility to protect the beautiful but dim-witted girl Shangguan Xiaoxian (Katie Chan), who is believed to possess an enormous treasure and a manual of supreme kung fu left by her late father. Ye soon finds himself trapped in a maze of mystery and intrigue, and danger awaits him wherever he goes! Later he realizes that the seemingly innocent Xiaoxian is actually the evil mastermind behind all the conspiracies...
