Okay, so what?

Conspiracy is a mixed film that takes elements from various other movies; there are thiny bits of "basic istinct", "silence of the lamb" "scream" and some classic Hitchcock. The problem arise as soon as the director has to put together those elemnts and make them work. The actor's job is reasonably done and goes smoothly (helped by the fact that they play stereotyped characters), but the problem is the story. It follows at least three different strands that should coincide at the end of the movie, but in fact do not. The sense of confusion rises as the story goes on and you do not understand wich part of it should be the leading one, arriving at the end of the movie with the strange sensation that it has not explained everything and you have to fill the gap. It's funny for a while, to guess what's happening, but the bore catches on and you end the movie trough sheer force of will. In all a mediocre movie, nothing to be proud of, but surely nothing to cry at a scandal. Look at it with some buddies and you could have a funny evening, nothing more. A little note on the VCD version; the master of the movie was probably old and the image is not that good, especially when it moves quickly and the subtitles appear. |
