After the successful TV drama Plain Love, Gordon Lam (Election) takes up another unsophisticated, good-natured, and humane role in Country Spirit. He teams up with popular TV actresses Sheren Tang and Charmaine Sheh in this captivating series also set in the scenic Guangxi region in Mainland China where the shooting of Plain Love took place. Charmaine Sheh's role as a woman of perseverance was elected fans' favorite character among all TVB dramas in 2001.

Ah Chun (Gordon Lam), an illegitimate son of Ku Sai Lung (Paul Chun), takes up the most tedious tasks in Ku's winery. He has a crush on Ku's younger sister but the relationship does not work. Meanwhile, family members lose contact with Ku's only son (Joe Ma) in the battlefield and everyone believes him to be dead. Ku thus arranges a "ghost marriage" according to the Chinese custom and a young girl Fung (Charmaine Sheh) becomes the wife of Ku's deceased son. Soon after that Ku suffers from stroke and can no longer run the winery, which is then at risk because of internal power struggle. Fung and Chun finally tide the business through and they begin to fall in love with each other. Just then her supposedly-dead husband returns from the battlefield alive...

醇酒洗滌人生 真愛釀出美酒

酒廠當家古世龍(秦沛)出於情義而收留舊情人的私生子阿純(林家棟)。純寄人籬下，幸他生性豁達，更毫不介意擔任低微的「酒尾公」。純對龍妹古瑤(鄧萃雯)早生情愫，惜她忘不了已逝世的蒸煮師傅裘真(曾偉權)。

龍獨子古桂生(馬德鐘)從軍後音訊杳然，家人以為他已死，替他安排冥婚，新娘是拉橫水渡的黎順風(佘詩曼)。風與古家上下合不來，幸得純從旁勸解。不久龍中風，其家人爭權奪利，風遂擔起當家之位，與純合力助酒廠度過難關，二人日久生情，豈料生卻於此時突然回家……

KOO SAI LUNG (CHUN PUI) is the head of a winery. Out of kindness, he adopts his ex-girlfriend's illegitimate son SHUN (LAM KA TUNG). SHUN is cheerful and tolerates any kind of abuse. SHUN has been secretly in love with LUNG's younger sister, YIU (TANG SHUI MAN), yet she cannot forget her late lover, KAU CHUN (TSANG WAI KUEN).

LUNG's only son, KWAI SANG (MA TAK CHUNG), serves in the army. The family has not heard from him for a long time and assumes that he is dead. LUNG sets up marriage for SANG with LAI SHUN FUNG (SHEN CHARMAINE), who works as a ferry lady. FUNG has conflicts with the Koo family. SHUN stands by her all along. Later when LUNG has a stroke, the family falls apart. With SHUN's help, FUNG takes up the responsibility of managing both the family and the winery. When their love starts to sparkle, SANG appears out of the blue....
