Not my Favorite Garnet Crow, but still loved it.
Not my Favorite Garnet Crow, but still loved it.

If you're new to Garnet Crow: I can't even recount how many times I've listened to this CD!! I love every song on it, because every song is unique, yet every song is pleasantly similar. The melodies are all catchy and different, but it seems Nakamura Yuri's voice binds the whole song together into a soothing Garnet Crow song. When I'm sad, happy, or I just casually want to listen to good music, this one comes out. At first I didn't appreciate the subtle beauty of Garnet Crow, but once I've listened to it the second time...then the third time... it just got better and better. The lyrics are deep and thought provoking and simply beautiful. The writer of the lyrics isn't the singer, but Azuki Nana. If this is your next album of Garnet Crow: Two words: BUY IT. If you love Garnet Crow, loved the previous album/s you've got, you're sure to love this one. I can't really point out which songs I liked, liked more, or liked the most. If you know their songs, it's quite difficult to rank them as your favorite. I just think, "Yay! More Garnet Crow songs!", and don't really consider whether one will be better than the other. That's another thing great about Garnet Crow, their consistency. I don't mean that their songs are repetitive or boring, because that is totally not true. But trust me when I say this is another spectacular Garnet Crow CD. And so are all the others. Really, that's all there is to it. |

Probably my favorite JPop group
|
When I first heard Garnet Crow's Yume Mita Atode, I just fall in love with Nakamura's voice!!! Now I am really addicted to this excellent group's consistent performance. What makes Garnet Crow so unique? It's hard to describe, but I think the lyrics mix in so well with the score, it's like listening to a recital of a poem or something. Garnet Crow's music is very unique on its own right, so you won't get that "same old, same old" feeling from other JPop groups' performance (even though many are also excellent, but not unique like Garnet Crow's). My personal favorites are Track 1, 2, 3 & 8. The remix of Yume mita Atode is okay, but I prefer the original mix (which portrays the sorrow feeling better). Well..., that song is a masterpiece just the way it was (absolutely the best combination of vocal, lyrics & scores), so I doubt there is any room for improvement. |

Excellent stuff

Definitely one of the most underrated bands in Japan, Garnet Crow don't get as much credit as they deserve. Their brand of pop-rock has enthralled me for some time now; 'Natsu no maboroshi' and 'Last Love Song' (some of their earlier singles) were excellent. Crystallize didn't disappoint at all. Each track is quality, with the incredibly catchy 'Nakenai yoru mo nakanai asa mo' a particular highlight. There's plenty here to keep pop fans happy and no reason to miss out on this one. Truly remarkable. |

Garnet Crow caught my attention a while back in a magazine I read. I quickly went out and bought their two cds that were out (first soundscope and SPARKLE) and instantly fell in love with them. The music, the voice and the lyrics. The sound of the songs is very relaxing and draws you in, wanting to hear more and more, and once it's over, you want to go back again. This 3rd cd is no exception. The style of music hasn't changed dramatically, you could recognize them if you didn't know it was them, but it is enough variation to keep you listening. This cd has a few outstanding songs to me, 2, 3, 6, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12. Make that... 3/4 the cd is outstanding. The other 1/4 are still good, but more typical of Garnet Crow. If you heard the first 2 cds and liked, then you should definetly like this one. If you've never heard Garnet Crow before, you may want to pick this cd up, along with the first two. They may seem expensive at first glance, but they are worth well more than this. |
