The late famous action choreographer / stuntman Blacky Ko Sau-Leung has directed a number of movies, including the hilarious title Curry and Pepper, before he passed away in 2003. Produced by the famous director Peter Chan, the film features Stephen Chow and Jacky Cheung who remains the hottest stars in town even until today. Blacky Ko himself took up the role of the villain in the film. Stephen Chow's talents in making comedies have already been shown in this amusing motion picture. Hitting HK$15 million box office in 1990, this wonderful blockbuster Curry and Pepper is now available on DVD with DTS sound and English subtitles!
Curry and Pepper is among the very few titles in which Stephen Chow is joined by other actors in creating jokes, but this time he collaborates with Jacky Cheung who indeed has quite a good chemistry with Stephen Chow. The film co-stars Anne Bridgewater, a popular pretty actress at that time. The spectacular action scene with Curry and Pepper fighting with Blacky even brings the film to its climax!

Typical buddy cop flick
| (I don't have this "Golden" edition) Like all buddy cop movies there has to be a conflict that occurs with the buddies as well as with their precinct, this of course delivers both. The characters themselves are quirky like the comedic actors that portray them. Enjoyable but much better back in the day. Stephen Chow delivers his boyish good-looks with his classic comedy flatpan affect that works for him. |

A good movie for Jacky & Stephen fans
A good movie for Jacky & Stephen fans
| At first sight I thought this Jacky/Stephen match was quite... unusual... but now I think they are good together; Stephen Chow tries to act 'seriously' but has his highlights in the (yes, you have guessed right) funny scenes. Anyway, he he's great (actually, I think Stephen Chow is one of the few actors that is always great, even if the movie is a REAL flop...). Jacky Cheung is one of the most skillful actors (not only of China - of the whole universe) and in this movie he has to play both action and romance scenes (with a mad jealous Stephen in the background...). In conclusion: if you ore mad about Jacky & Stephen (as I am) you must see this film. |
