- What is MPEG?
- MPEG stands for Moving Picture Experts Group and it is the nickname given to a family of International Standards used for coding audio-visual information in a digital compressed format. It will compress the picture in order to be able to record the huge quantities of information needed to store full motion video. The MPEG family of standards includes MPEG-1, MPEG-2 and MPEG-4, formally known as ISO/IEC11172, ISO/IEC-13818 and ISO/IEC-14496.
