祠堂是家族的聖地，而在男尊女卑的時代，祠堂也是女人的禁地。
而這個關於祠堂的故事，恰恰是圍繞著一個女人開始、發展、最後走向不可預知的結局。

　　明朝末年，徽州，謝鎮，居住著一門望族謝氏，同一個祖宗，同一個祠堂，只是由於祖父輩早年隱秘的恩怨，分成了前謝和後謝兩支。同祖不同宗的前謝家長孫謝致卿和後謝家長孫謝致成一起在祠堂舉行新婚大典，喧鬧中祠門突然倒塌砸傷了前謝志卿，將喜慶的兩謝族人心頭蒙上了不祥的陰影。
　　持家的重擔過早地落在才二十出頭的前謝家長孫媳秀雲身上，秀雲從此開始了徽州女人“一世夫妻三年半”的漫長寂寞的等待。小叔致相因為生病而在生活上養成了對她極度的倚賴；被找回來的玉芬因觸犯族規，要被處以“沉江”的刑罰；丈夫致卿出門八年，歸家時卻帶回一個姿容豔麗的小外家和一個剛會走路的兒子；致相中舉；秀才失瘋；玉芬女扮男裝進入戲班；而致卿卻在生意最得意之時遭逢不測。
　　二十年彈指而過，秀才公公傾十數年心血修撰的謝氏宗譜終于告成，前謝族人大喜之際，年過七十的三爺卻集合起謝族人對新譜口誅筆伐…

《大祠堂》涉及複雜多樣的人際倫理：戀人、叔嫂、夫妻、父子、妻妾、主僕、朋友和兄弟，在樸素平實和流暢自然之中講述驚天地泣鬼神的動人故事。

The acting was very credible, story has deep meaning of life.
i think this one is the best one of all. for those that haven't seem those style of Chinese series,they should take the time to watch it because it's that good. great series

I was amazed by ruby's acting in this drama! As Kim said in above this series for ruby lin for sure. the moment I saw her acting and her interactions with each of the characters on screen, she immediately earned my respect. She was the value woman I had envisioned!

And about the series itself..
There are no words to express how much I love this series. The storyline was great and it didn't drag and have unnecessary scenes like most Mainland and Taiwan series. Da Chi Tang is deep, engaging, sad, real and done with a lot of care and pride, and hence this production deserves nothing less than five stars.

This is really well-made piece of China production.

this series for ruby lin for sure. She does a spendlid job in portraying leading lady. Her facial expressions and reactions are so realistic it is aweing.
As for the drama itself, it was very deep, powerful, and as well as very meaningful.. I highly recommend this!
